Does anyone on here show rabbits in 4-H? Or horses?

I am a teen and would love to show my rabbits/horse in 4-H but have NO clue how:?

I have a dutch rabbit that used to be shown..Could I show him again? If so, how? He has a tatto in his ear..what does that mean?

If I can show him, what can you win? Money or just ribbons?

Please help me out here :) Thank you :)

Go to your local Extension Office and find out about the Horse Project. You will get all the info, and beware that 4-H horse shows can be fairly costly. This is my third year doing them. Mostly, you win ribbons in the horse shows, but you can win bigger prizes in the State shows. I enjoy doing horse judging, hippology, and, of course, horse riding with my 4-H group. :)

It *may* be too late - I know the cut-off dates for our county/state have passed (but I also have been told by one of the local leaders that it is never 'really' too late for most projects - the exception to that being animal projects that require tagging in of the project animals on official tagging dates). Definitely contact the local extension agency office and they can point you in the right direction.
Even if it is too late for you to be able to fully participate (ie show at fair) this year, you can attend the meetings and get a good feeling for what you will experience next year/give yourself a leg-up.

Our county pays "premium money" for certain levels - I know Champion, Reserve Champion and all first placement projects receive premium payouts. Last year DD received $13 (I believe) from two projects - Horse & Pony and Photography. DS did Aerospace (rockets) and Aquatic Science and came away with $5, if I recall correctly.
There are SO MANY projects to choose from now - way more than there were 30 years ago when I was in 4-H, lol. I was literally amazed by all the choices in the book....the kids are expanding their project choices this year and we are getting so excited about fair (and starting to have that, "Only x more weeks" panic attack over all that is left to do, lol)

Find a good 4h group and the leader will help you get started. That's how I got started and enjoyed it, the 2 years i did it.
