I have always been wondering what the name of this bit was.. It seems kind of like a french link? But I'm not too sure. The link is curved a bit, though you can't see it very well. Anyone know?

It call it a double jointed bit, or a french link.

French links are usually smoother, while doctor bristols are a little more "harsh"

It could be something totally different.

On a Dr. Bristol, the segment in the middle would actually be tilted on an angle....it's hard to tell how the segment on that bit sits based on the photo though.

Unless the bit is on the bridle upside down in the photo, I don't think it's ported.

And while there are not really firm definitions for these bits that I'm aware of, I always thought "French link" had the flat piece in the middle that laid flush against the tongue.
