Anyone use headstalls by Weaver Leather? Specifically, the ones from their tack collections with the English bridle leather and dots, such as their "Back in Black," "Desert Blossom," "Tough Enough to Wear Pink," etc? I always love anything with bling!

I guess what I am wondering about, is what is the leather quality like on their headstalls? I am fairly picky about my leather, and for the price it should be decent leather, but I have never seen them in person.

Our tack shop carries only Weaver. I use a Weaver headstall, off billet, and breast collar. All are high quality, flexible, and well stitched. The only thing is the leather does have a tendency to darken when oiled, at least with mink.

I don't have a Weaver headstall, but I do have 2 Weaver breast collars, a set of reins or two, and a mohair Smart Cinch. I find the leather, materials, stitching, and design to be very good. I would have no qualms about buying more of their tack if I needed to replace something.

I have one of those that you are asking about with the silver and pink dots, without looking it up it's probably the "tuff enough to wear pink" collection. I LOVE it!! It's really nice and SO cute!!! Haven't used it a ton yet but it's really nice quality. I also love that it has enough holes in it that you can adjust it clear down to fit my little arabs head and also it will go big enough for my huge guy. You'd be happy with one!!

Our local tack shop carries a lot from Weaver. This really snotty lady owns it who only buys the best....I think my western headstall is from Weaver's

Thanks for the input! I ordered a Back in Black headstall and a Desert Blossom headstall from Valley Vet yesterday and then started to wonder if I would be happy with them. But it sounds like I will!

I am not ultra picky or anything, but I like good leather. Even harness leather is great, just not the stiff, cheap stuff. Not that I thought those would be like that, but still, I haven't seen their headstalls in real life.

I kind of got a bit spoiled because my neighbor has several Martin headstalls, and I ended up buying two. I know these won't be that high caliber, because the Martins are really expensive, but just as long as they are quality leather and well made, I will be happy.

I have seen a Smart Cinch or two in person, and they are very nice. I ended up buying a Classic Equine alpaca cinch when I wanted another mohair and I love it so far (I've only had it since Christmas and the weather has been cruddy so I've only ridden with it 3-4 times). I really love nice tack!

I have one Weaver headstall w/matching reins. I really liked it but when I saw the price tag it was more than I wanted to spend, but the woman who owns the tack store where I bought it caters to Quarter Horse show people and said in the long run it will pay for itself. I have owned it for 3 years the headstall has had a lot of use and it still is holding up perfect, still looks new. Ihavent used the reins much so they are still brand new. I also have a few smart cinches. I really like them.

I have a couple in a pattern that has been obsoleted. Light oil and dark oil. The leather is nice. The nickel spots are good quality. I don't have any complaints. I only paid $22 or so each for the headstalls and reins on clearance at a local shop, lol.

Very true.

Each of our horses has at least one of their own head stalls. We pay for quality so they fit and are dependable. Good looking doesn't hurt either.
