Arabian Mare For Sale

I am selling my 5 year old Arabian mare. I no longer have the time or money to care for her, and so must find her a new home to continue her training, and give her love and attention. She's 14.1 hands, green broke, and needs a confident experienced rider or trainer. I got her as a big project horse from a crappy situation, where she knew nothing except having been roped down to do her feet, and has come a long way in the last year. She ties and trailers, I've never tried to clip her as I don't have clippers, but she's been around them with no problems. She picks up her feet great, is perfect for the farrier, and is currently barefoot. She has beautiful floaty movement, and a cute jump, and would also be good for endurance. She is not currently registered, as I have not had the money, but I have all her papers in had, all you need to do is send them in. She's by Alada Baskin I, out of Dreame Khatcher. She has Bask, Aladdin, Sir Victor, and Khemosabi in her lines to name a few greats. She has great conformation, and would make a great broodmare as well. I do not have any good conformation shots at this time, but I will have some help out at the barn on Tuesday, and will get some good photos. I am asking $4,000, but the price is definitely negotiable to the right home.

I think asking $4,000 for an unbroke, unregistered horse is extreme.

It's not quite as easy as just sending in the paperwork to get her registered, you know. At her age, it's going to cost a boatload of money. For non-AHA members, the cost is $375.00. For members it's $350.00.

She's a lovely young thing, but I think instead of worrying about money, you should do your best to just find her a good home.

I looked up prices of horses with her bloodlines amount of training, and registered or unregistered, in my area, and the cheapest was going for 5k, most were around 6k, and there were a few going for 10-15k. I priced her a little higher than what I'm really wanting to try and weed out those who really don't know what they are doing, or who aren't really serious. And apparently rereading that ad didn't mention that she has been started, has about 60 days on her, and is doing really well. I'm going to have to change that on the craigslist ad.

I think the higher price will weed out some people that you wouldn't want her to go to. Just be careful with craigslist. I have had some good experiences with it but also had some scary people contact me. Including the drunk woman calling me 4 times and leaving messages until she was cut off at 2:30 in the morning.

Ya I just don't want someone looking at her going "oh pretty horse, pretty cheap, already started, how hard can it be to "train" her". I figure if someone really is interested, the price listed especially with the fact that I'm willing to negotiate, isn't going to deter them. I hope she finds a great home as well.

I saw this when you first put it up and forgot to comment, oops! I think she is absolutely stunning and will make a wonderful horse for someone. Best of luck selling her!

Here is the pedigree on her dam:

Dreame Khatcher Arabian

And the pedigree on her sire:
Alada Baskin I Arabian

She is bred rather well!!! I wish you much luck in finding her a great new home. Please reconsider her listing price to gain interest. She is a nice looking lil' mare, looks to be a great mover too and would be a fantastic Sport Horse prospect for someone who wanted to invest a little bit of time into her. Registered, she surely will sell for more to someone who is interested in breeding Purebred Arabians or competing at Arabian shows. If it is not possible financially to register her at this time, please also consider reducing her price by at least her registration fee which will be $500 since she is over age 2. Sometimes AHA will however offer a discount of $250 to register unregistered but eligible horses for a specific period of time. Currently I am unaware of any specials going on.

Please consider posting her information and photos on Arabian interest sites such as: http://www.arabiansinsport.org , Arabian Breeders Network -> FrontPage and others. ABN allows FREE classifieds with photos and there are a lot of individuals who would love to potentially utilize her pedigree in their show and/or breeding programs.

I wish you only the very best of luck with her sale and will share with others in your area that might would have an interest. I believe she could be a super star!!!

Your mare has one registered sibling out of the same mare. She nor her dam had a show record. Did you purchase your mare from her breeder Lynn?

Her maternal grandsire Baskhemo's show record:
AHA Recognized CompetitionRegionDates Class Description Place Score/% # in Class Ach Award PointsCCC AHA SPRING SHOW (86021) Region: 228-MAR-86 to 30-MAR-86 Arabian Western Pl 1 10 2 Arabian Western Pl Champ 1 15 6WEST WRANGLERS SHOW (86014) Region: 114-MAR-86 to 16-MAR-86 Arabian Western Pl 1 19 4 Arabian Western Pl 1 24 5 Arabian Western Pl Champ 2 21 8WHITTIER LIONS CLUB (86010) Region: 123-JAN-86 to 26-JAN-86 Arabian Western Pl 2 21 4 Arabian Western Pl 2 16 3 Arabian Western Pl 1 15 3
And has 135 Total Registered progeny.

Hope this little bit of information will prove helpful.
