Are Arabs different to train than Thoroughbreds, Warmbloods and Quarter Horses?
I've always wondered, and I own an arab now, and I'm just curious!

Not really. The breed stereotypes sometimes have merit, and an Arab is a LOT less likely to tolerate rough handling then say your average Quarter Horse. A lot of people think Arabs are flighty, spooky and borderline dangerous but personally, I find those Arabs only seem to exist where idiots are concerned with their training. They're incrediably smart and super sensitive and often take a lot less to get your point across.

Again, often you'll find ones that don't fall into the breed stereotype, but after being raised amongst them and learning to ride my entire life on them, I've always found they seem to learn things faster then you can teach them and will quickly get annoyed if you continue trying to teach it anyway. I find a properly trained Arab is one of the most docile and fiercly loyal breeds - all of mine have been.

Realistically though, it all boils down to personality which changes in every horse. Arabs definately have a bit of an untamed spirit though, and often it can take awhile to figure them out because they never seem to lose their own sense of what you SHOULD be doing :lol: My Arabs have all been extremely opinionated, and some may take that as attitude, but it's what makes me love them so much!

Yes my warmblood is the most stubborn most smartest most opinionated horse i have EVER met lol. my little arab colt just started showing me attitude tonight, made me happy, since he is underweight, i am happy to see that because i was worried he was not doing well.

I think this is one of them things on it depends on who you talk to. Some people say every breed is different...and they are. Alot of people will agree that its not so much the breed, then the personality of every horse, as they are as different as people. I have had paints and quarter horses, lots of different personality. Some real laid back while some more "hotter" where you have to use different methods of training. Depends on the horse, not so much the breed IMO.

My horse is an Arab and she has to be the easiest, smartest thing I have ever trained.

no not really, but arabs are more flighty then alot of other horses and some poeple say they are smarter then other horses.
and they are pretty much the same to train then other horses.
