Happy Friday & happy st Patrick’s day!
been a very long week, started rough, ending rough lol. It’s a “what in the world” type of week, I think I’ve said it atleast 10x a day.
Having my fam and a few friends over just to talk and chill, I’m making a whole green platter, cucumbers, green grapes, celery, broccoli.. yay for green! It’s one of my favorite colors.
I didn’t wear green today though, thankfully I don’t work with toddlers so I didn’t get pinched.
cleaned the house, now I’m tired, amazes me how much cleaner the stalls and the barn are compared to my house🫣😳
I got back from work and thought I’d have time to work my guy- nope, the bad weather had already started blowing in, and both him and the mare were galloping around like crazy and he seemed annoyed with this sudden weather change.. today it was a beautiful 70° and now bam.. the clouds are threatening to pour any second now and the wind is so darn strong! The temps are dropping too, I think the high for tomorrow is in the 40°s, ugh!
My guy has been shedding like INSANE! I think he’s about lost all his coat, I get covered in hair before I can even say “hair!” I try to wear my vest outside every time I know I’m going to brush him or else I’ll turn into a mini him.
pretty bummed about the rain, it was finally dry, as well as the arena.
got some more sand for the arena, well I didn’t mean too, I walked outside and went “what in the world!” There was a load of sand in my arena!
I never bought anymore and got all the loads I paid for a month or two ago, lol guess I’m going to have the call the people I got the sand from in the first place.
dinner im making a grilled tuna fish sandwich!
actually I use to really hate grilled tuna fish sandwiches when I was a kid, and then I got older, piled on the cheese and I like it now LOL.
sadly I have no new pictures, pretty boring!
Haven’t been able to read everyone’s post, ill get to it later though.

Laddie has been shedding well at his normal pace. He doesn't have that thick a coat to begin with. Dixie's Cushing's coat isn't budging, but it's not crazy long. I noticed in this mild weather (it's 68Fnow) her chest was sweaty when I brought her out to wash her tail. Temps will dip again after tomorrow, but when it gets a little more reliably warm, I guess the clippers will have to come out. I had to clip her two years ago. Last year, she was pretty well shed by June, about the time the weather turned from cold and wet to hot and dry.

1. @dogpatch is the kitty picture Barney The Barn Cat? That cat is either part Himalayan or Siamese - it is beautiful 😍😍 I’ll bet with that Tri colored nose it’s a female.
I agree with your comment awhile back that the cat belongs to someone. Years ago a good friend had her female (spayed) cat disappear. Three YEARS later it returned😳😳. She was gobsmacked when she was heading to feed the horses one morning and Kitty met her at the porch door. Kitty stayed “home” for a few more years, until her end time arrived and my friend had to have her PTS’d.

2. It was 60-something degrees yesterday, stayed in the 50’s all night. Wind came up with gusts in the 20 MPH, and pretty soon the rain let loose - it poured, the wind blew, it got cold, Duncan said “to Hay with this dog crap” and went to the barn”.
We will be down in the 20’s for the next three nights - never fear it will allegedly be 77 by Thursday🙄🙄

@walkinthewalk the kitty in the picture is Fiona, our house elf. 🥰 We adopted her from a cat rescue as an aged cat, said to be 10 years old. That was about 5 years ago and she still has jet-propelled fits of playfulness. She is super affectionate but scared to death of strangers. Supposedly her lady owner died of cancer and the husband just threw the two house cats out of the house. A neighbor called the rescue to come collect them.
Barney is a very sleek and handsome solid gray cat with a very large white bib and white feet. I think he's got yellow eyes. There's another rescue that tries to place feral cats as "barn cats". A neighbor acquired a couple of cats that way to supposedly help with a rat problem, but I think the cats quickly dispersed. Barney could have easily come from that situation. That would be good as such cats would have been sterilized. But they clip the tip of an ear when they do that, and I haven't seen a clipped ear on Barney.
Our spring/summer is over after tomorrow and we're back into the 40s and rain. Supposed to be cold and wet at least through April 5th. We have made good use of the brief break!

3. March 25th was the old New Year both here and in the American colonies until 1752. It's also Latha na Cailleach - ladies day, associated with cleaning and the time when Cailleach stops beating back spring growth and good weather. We're in A’ Chailleach at the moment, the extra 'season' that brings stormy weather.
4. Our weather has been cold with some snow on Tuesday morning. We're a bit milder now, at 11C/51F. The weekend is to be wet and dull. One day we'll get mild and sunny!
5. Tea was salmon and steamed veg. Supper is toast and jam before bed.
7. Anthing else...
I'm working the weekend, I doubt that I'll have time to ride until Tuesday.
It was a working day for me and I came home to finish emails and paperwork after my tea. I remember when my Friday nights were a different.

@Caledonian: I'm originally from the Chicago area and hubby's from Connecticut originally. There's not much 'old' in Chicago and stuff's just a bit more aged in Connecticut.

Hoping everyone who's sick gets well soon. Love the barn pics. The storm was a bust in Boston, but just an hour away a friend of mine got 2 feet. An hour south of there, at the barn, they also got nothing. Bizarre pattern this year.
Back to work today! Good to have a rest, good to get back to it. My brain's functioning better after some self-care. Another refugee from my old company was hired - a really good, dedicated, compassionate medic and good teacher. Glad to have him.
Most fun news: my bosses were contacted by a journalist working for one of the EMS trade magazines, who wants to do an article on paramedics in home hospital. He wants to interview a medic, and my bosses selected me. 😁 So I will have a little zoom chat with him next week. It's nice that the guy wants to cover the issue but even better for me is knowing my bosses think so highly of me. 🥰
Jasper, the best horse in my biased opinion, is well. We had good weather and good rides. We were in the meadow yesterday, going home, and he put up his ears, so I looked. Saw a hawk and a smaller bird, a kestrel maybe, tangling in mid-air and then into the woods. Nice of him to let me know. This is why we like to ride alone - we would miss too much otherwise.

It was overcast and cold today. Temps dropped as the day went on so for the next couple of days highs will be in the 30's and lows in the 20's. While everyone is busy grooming their horses I'm avoiding brushing Freckles because she's my first shedder every year but she loses it too soon. She looks awful covered in loose hair but it's better than no hair. LOL
This week has been busy compared to my normal. The dental assistant asked if I had any fun plans for the weekend and I told her staying home would be the funnest thing I could do and that I planned to do just that. I've had to be way too social this week. I missed my calling of being a hermit but I'm still trying to get there. 🥴 Then Monday I'm meeting a friend for lunch in town to hand over some paperwork of hers I have. We're going to a Chinese buffet, which we both love.
Today hubs and I had lunch at a pizza buffet so I didn't fix supper but it's all finally digested and I'm starting to feel hungry again. If it gets to the point I can't ignore it I'll probably nuke a little leftover spaghetti. Besides wanting to be a hermit I also may be part vampire or maybe feline because I'd rather stay up all night and sleep during the day. I like the peace and quiet the nighttime hours bring.
I think I've finally got him on the same page as I am on flooring selection. Yay to him dragging me all over creation looking being over! Now to get it ordered and the stepson to find time in his schedule to lay it.

I have always been an early riser, even when I was a kid I would tell mom to make sure I was up and moving no later than 9:00 AM because my day was already starting to waste. Once I started working for GM and had to clock in at 6:00 AM, that 9:00 AM quickly moved to 5:00 AM, which suited me fine🏃♀️🏃♀️ I could however do without being wide awake at two or three AM, because I will fall back to sleep and waste my morning being tired anyway🙄🤯🙄🤯

We actually had flurries in my area this morning. Ticked me right off! The forsythia have bloomed. The Bradford pear are blooming. Daffodils are up. I was done with all of the white nastiness.
Hauled our horses to a temporary agistment. Nice place. Daughter's mare was very pleased. My gelding acted like he lost a limb as soon as he couldn't see his pasture mate. This is good for his brains.

I was working yesterday and my clients had a St Patty Day menu at dinner--Irish Stew with lamb and corned beef with cabbage. I could never eat a lamb myself or veal either for that matter! But the corned beef looked really good.
My mom is of Scottish/English/Irish descent. My BF's dad was Scottish also. We had kilts made in Scotland and used to wear them to the Scottish games around the PNW. Here's me walking with my clan in a little parade--

A couple of our horses are shedding quite a bit now and the others are just starting. Finally warming up the last few days--in the low sixties. My old boy got to have his blankie off so he can enjoy the sunshine. He still needs to gain more weight but the spring grass will help. More rain most of next week.
