Australias big pussy cat problem

Well ok you guys o/s have true big cats, so this is 'small fry' for some, but this is a domestic pussy cat after a number of generations gone feral. Australian natives have little defense, not evolved for big predators like this so these ferals have the run of the place, getting bigger & meaner with each generation.

If youre wondering about our depleted wildlife, its estimated there are around 10million feral cats in the wild here & the stomach contents of this one had 2 sugar gliders & a velvet gecko - times that by 10mil & consider thats the DAILY toll from cats... then we have Cane Toads up north too...

That's a big cat! If they're really getting bigger every generation, then before long other animals such as horses will be in danger as well. I would say address the problem before they get that big! I agree that people should neuter/spay their cats, and this is partly the fault of unresponsible owners that don't, but if there are that many feral cats already, they have to be caught and a fair amount of them euthanized, for our own and our animals safety.
That being said, I'm not an Aussie; I haven't even been their, for that matter (although I'd really love to!), so maybe there is another solution to this problem.

Oh boy, I can well believe the above!

In the U.K. We have rights of way, either bridle paths which horses can follow or footpaths. We had a footpath across our fields. There are also 'rights to rain' in certain parts of the country but not where I was.
My late boss never minded anyone walking across the fields, these were usually local people out with their dogs which, theynkept leashed or were stock trained.
We had some North Devon cattle, horned and quite hairy. A group of hikers were walking on the footpath and when they got to the gate they looked across the field where the cattle were (under some trees) and saw the lakes at the bottom. One woman declared "That looks pretty, lets go and see."
I was about to go through the gate tomfeed the cattle and told them that it wasn't a footpath and they had no right to trespass. She looked me up and down, practically gave me the finger and started to undo the gate.
I nipped through on the ATV and called the cattle which came running, bucking and shaking their heads acting silly.

I saodnto the group, "Well, you can walk down there if you like but two of you are wearing red and the bull might not like that!"

They proceeded on the footpath. There was no bull in the field either but I knew they wouldn't know that.

I have seen YouTube ideas of idiots in action with the buffalo and elk in Yellowstone. IDIOTS!
Lol, that's hilarious! I love that you told them "two of you are wearing red and the bull might not like that!". To think they even believed that the bull would charge the red!
