The owner of the barn where I keep my boy has been gone for 10 days, stewarding at the World Equestrian Games!
Today there was a little meeting at our barn about some recent local incidents that involved stolen tack at other barns, but I couldn't attend. My mom did though, when I got there we were all in a little group and our barn owner was telling stories about her experience at the WEG.
She stewarded for dressage, and at one point in the warm up ring Anky Van Grunsven was standing in the middle with her small child. Apparently her child was stomping around building sand castles and kind of exciting the horses warming up, so my BO had to approach her and request for the safety of her child and the riders that she should remove her child from the ring, to which Anky first demanded to know who complained, then replied to my BO something along the lines of "Well maybe they should all have children, so they can understand!!":lol:
And apparently the weather was so dry down there that there was barely anyplace to graze your horses, and the only grass that was good was the cross country course which was watered and maintained. The officials had to put up signs on the course saying not to uproot and steal the grass because people were taking it for their horses!
She told us all about living in trailers with no heating or cold water, yikes. But it still sounded like a lot of fun!
I just thought I'd share with you guys some stories I heard today that I found amusing.
