so in between jumps my horse likes to shove his head down and go really fast. i cant get my lead changes because he doesnt give me a chance to ask. pulling hos head up only gets me so far. my trainer mentioned somethig about trying a new bit because doesnt respond well to my hunter D which i have right now. i dont know much about bits so any advice or suggestions would help! thanks !

assuming that what you are saying is that your horse is pulling though your hands and not responsive because he is excited and rushing to the next jump, I would suggest trying this before switching bits:

Take him over the lowest jump that he does this on, and when he does run through you, attempt to slow him into a walk or trot (however slow you need him to be to get his attention again). If he won't slow down, one rein stop him. Once you've got him again, line him up and head to the next jump at the slowest pace that allows him to clear it. Pretty much, take him back a few steps, and once he is listening again and you are riding him faster, make sure that you are riding as apposed to to being taken for a ride. You might have to do this more than once.

Take away any ideas he has about jumping and redirect him to what you are instructing.
