My barn owner and I are about to embark on a major blanket washing session. We have 14 blankets to wash and re-waterproof. We are facing a wet, cold winter and we want to clean up the blankets, make any repairs and make sure they are waterproofed before winter hits. We looked into sending them out, but it would cost at the cheapest $12/blanket, plus $5/blanket for water proofing. The laundry mat has HUGE washers that can wash 3 blankets for $7.
I am now looking for water proofing. Camp dry is an option (or other tent water proofing) but not the most cost effective. We also heard that you can paint on deck sealer (BEHR was recommended), but want to know if it is safe? Has anyone used deck sealer to water proof your blankets? Or does anyone have other suggestions that won't cost an arm and leg for 14 blankets?
