I am looking at a young mini pony that has blindness in one eye. The eye has shriveled up and is just.... there. What is the care plan for something like that? What are the things I should look out for?

Thanks, any response is appreciated!

I currently have a paint that is blind in his left eye. Previous owner dint know what happened.
this is his eye it's pushed in and is all purple. I think it was genetic because his other eye is clouding up too. I also had a pony a few years ago that poked his eye on something in the pasture and went blind. Both horses did just fine, the paint is just more cautious now. I can even lunge him going both ways he just knows voice commands. I never did anything with them. Just be prepared that they really do trust you a lot more to let them know what is happening and where to go. And also the criticism that comes with it... Unless its just people around me that make fun of him.

One of my horses Blaze also is blind in one eye with the eye still there. He was injured after he spooked and ran through a barb wire fence. Its called Sunken Eye and as along as its not bothering them then its ok to let it be. My boy keeps a fly mask on in the spring and summer cause that eye tends ooze a lot when the bugs start coming back out. My vet recommended cleaning it with simple Saline Solution you get in the contacts sections at walmart or store. Blaze loves me cleaning in the summer cause I keep the saline solution at home so its nice and cold when I take it to the barn with me. lol Heres a pic of what his eye looks now. Sorry for the crappy lighting the sun was going down lol
