So i got my new Sabre bridle which i love!! A few friends said that if i saok it in oil (neatsfoot) it will make it softer. I soaked it for a day and now i left it to sit for about a weak and its still really oily!!! Any know what to do to remove excess oil. I have wiped it with a rag and then a damp rag and still its too oily... Thanks for your help!!

If you wash it quickly with a very mild tack soap then work it around a bit, it should wash off the excess oil from the outside then working it will release the oil from inside the leather to the surface so it will be nice and supple but not oily. I personally prefer to just take a sponge or a rag dipped in oil to a new piece of tack instead of soaking it. You can go over it once (working it while you do) and then again a few days later and it will be supple until you either clean it or until it gets rained on.
