The vet came back out today and put Pony on two more weeks of stall rest. :frown_color: She also wants him on a muscle relaxer, and she wants him taking Bute every day for those two weeks. I asked about stomach upset and she said she'd provide some Gastro Guard.

I'm just wondering, is two weeks too long to be on bute, even with Gastro Guard? Barn owner thought, and I agree, that it is a long time. What do you guys think?

Not an issue and your vet is already telling you providing a buffer will be done to alleviate your concerns.
Extended time, months to years of daily administering is not happening, that is where issues come forth...
2 weeks...give me the bottle to grind the pills so Pony has comfort and good healing results.

My 36 year old has been taking it daily for about 5 years now. Of course he's 36...

I think with the ulcer guard or gastro guard and your vet - you should be fine. (assuming the muscle relaxer is vet prescribed so you know it can be taken with the bute).

1. Yes two weeks should be ok with the gastro gard.

2. Which muscle relaxer.

2.1. I’ve lost track, where is the injury?
