When Tamra the horse I lease is groomed in the cross ties she hates it when I brush around her chestnuts. I've never heard of any horse doing this before... what could it be?

She may have been taught to lift her feet by squeezing in that area...so perhaps she thinks she has to move her leg when you do touch it.

Otherwise, she may just not like anyone fiddling with her legs down there, so you just gotta do it, and help her realize that it's okay.

maybe they bother her .they do shed ..i didn't know that untill my mares front chestnuts started peeling haha. or maybe theyre itchy

Maybe someone yanked on them too hard if they were trying to peel them off and now she's scared that you may do it again.
