You have to get your hands on it in person. Also you want to actually set it on your horse to make sure it fits. A poorly fitting saddle can cause all kinds of problems from a sore back on your horse to behavior issues. What breed is your horse? What size tree and gullet does the saddle have? You can find tons of articles on the web about saddle fit.

14 is a very small saddle, and what is hanging off the horn?

To me, this saddle is one I would avoid, as if I am right and the leather is coming off of horn, you will have to have it repaired, and as I said, seat size is hardly more than child size.

And main thing is saddle fitting your horse.

It's a barrel racing saddle so the 14inch seat size is pretty typical.

For what it is, I'd say $400 is a fair price. You might try and talk them down a LITTLE but I don't think they would be wise to go below $350.

I'm a grown woman and rode in a 14-14 1/2 inch barrel saddle. My old Ferguson roping saddle I bought not too long ago is a 14 in.

It depends on how you are built I suppose...
