I have an extremely hairy cob who is sweating like mad at the minute and I was thinking of clipping her. Problem is she hates having a rug on and I've never clipped her before so I'm not sure if it would be OK to leave her without a rug. Does anyone know of any way to clip her without needing a rug? Obviously if the weather gets really bad she'll just have to put up with it but I would prefer to not have to keep one on her. Any help is appreciated!

Depends on if you have a stable or a good field shelter that she'll use if its raining continuously through the day/night.
If you don't then it isn't fair to clip her.
Not sure where you are but the summer's coming here so winter coats are going to be gone soon anyway.

You could always take her belly hair off, a strip up her windpipe and between her back legs. This will help with the sweating, she will not need a rug and the marks won't show when her summer coat comes through.
