Hi,
Wondering if anyone can help, me and my friends were on a walk when we came across what I assume to be the mother, tied up on an open field. Next to it, was a foal laying down not moving much, however it was not tied up. We observed them for like 20 minutes and nothing changed, I have attached pictures of the horse standing over the foal.
Please may someone let me know if there is a need for concern or to contact anyone!

When I was a kid, my parents had a broodmare that tethered out perfectly. When she had a foal, she was tethered at the neighbors' pasture and her foal was loose, they were always fine. Yes, foals sleep a lot!

Do they have water available? As my concern would be dehydration if the mare doesn't have access to water.
