Aidan has a history of coughing during the wet season. It seems to only happen when he gets excited and occasionally when warming up but not every time. The wet season here is pretty bad. I have moved him from the paddock with some icky water in one side to a nearly dry paddock hoping this helps. We had to rent pumps to drain the back paddocks. It's a huge mess and they have been under water for almost a month and a half and the coughing started in the last month so I think keeping him as dry as possible will help. He has been seen by a vet for this and she told me it's minor allergies but it was not as wet in CA as it is here so it only lasted a month or so.

I tried Cough free but it didn't seem to make a difference. I am thinking of trying Clarity Clarity from SmartPak Equine only he doesn't have an mucus or anything coming out, it's a dry cough or Smartbreathe SmartBreathe from SmartPak Equine
or Freeway Gold Freeway Gold - Equine Respiratory Supplements from SmartPak Equine

Anyone have any experience with either of these products or any other suggestions?

Could he be sick? Have you got him checked by the vet? Does he have heaves?

He was been seen a while back and she didn't say anything about Heaves or COPD I doubt he's sick nothing about his personality has changed, he eats and drinks normally and there is no mucus or discharge from his nose, mouth or eyes. Looking up Heaves it says it's chronic coughing. He will cough 4-6 times when warming up or if he takes off in his paddock running he will cough a couple times.

When it's dry he's fine it's usually spring when it's wet and things are blooming this happens.

The vet is coming out next month for teeth so I spose I could ask again.

My mare has chronic heaves and has no discharge. As far as her coughing she doesn't do it all the time, mostly when what you describe happens (all the pollen). Sometimes coughing is "normal" but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have the vet look.

Hmmm, I will for sure ask the vet when he comes out for teeth then. Don't want to ignore something and cause him future problems.

That's true. I'm sure (and hope) it's nothing he's a doll and we don't want anything to happen. Take his temp next time you're out, just in case.
