It looks to me like she has a very comfortable trot. I don't know much about hunters, but she looks very nice to me. It would definitely be worth a try. It looked to me like she was bulging her shoulders some. Of course I was not there so I can't know exactly what you were trying to do with her, but it looked like she was resistant to having her shoulders follow where you were wanting her to go (I can especially see this in the first video). It is never too early to start asking her to turn off the outside rein and get her to lead with her shoulder. This will help limber up her neck and shoulders and makes for more precise control of where her feet will go. You can do this in a small circle (10 or 15 meters or so) starting at the walk and eventually working up to the trot. Tip her nose to the outside but guide her with the inside rein through the circle, use your outside leg to get her to move her shoulders around the circle. It is hard for me to explain in words. I can demonstrate it in the saddle much better. This is a precursor to teaching the horse to ride shoulder in. Of course, you might already know all this. That is just the number one thing I noticed.

Thank you fo the advice. The first two videos were of her first ride ever, so obviously she's not going to know what leg means or much of anything else, so that's why she was evading =) She's a good girl, I'm lucky to have such a quiet ex-race horse!

 

Yeah, she definitely looks better in the last video. She does appear to be pretty quiet. I was like, "This horse was an ex-racer?" Lucky you. How old is she? I think she is going to make you a very nice mount.

That's great! She is just barely getting started then. If you play your cards right then the options are limitless. She looks like a very nicely build girl. Just build up some of that muscle. I like her natural headset, she should have a nice topline after a bit of work.

My favorite thing about miss annie: Shes so calm and quiet and shes got a great headset. I trust her alot.

I had a booboo saturday, I stoped at the hill after leaving, and turns out my plug for the trailer brakes/lights was dragging on the ground down 113 on the way over- it kind of meltedish so I need to take it to Cotner. I hope you arent expecting me to pick her up anytime soon :-(

 

Oh no about the trailer!! Nope hopefully I'll be with ali formore than a month if I can afford it! I haven't had lessons on her yet, I think next week sometime. You should come ride soon if you're free

 

I am going to be very busy untill Feb 8th (my test) so I'll try to fit it in. Her barn hours make it a little hard for me to come out durring the week. Def. keep asking to see if you can work off some board. Maybe you can find her another boarder. She can advertise on here too.

 

We can ride anytime, if she's there or not (if that's what u were meaning by barn hours). She worked her again today and she said she was great, just pokey lol. I gave someone her numbr abt boarding, burin not
sure what happened with it. I hope I can work off some board so I can keep her there...it's nice to have rings!!!

 

She had the barn hours along with the list of rules posted on that door near the front.

 

I think she's got the build and movement to do pretty much anything; that she was never really started on the racetrack is a good thing, too! I think you got a good one, there, and she looks like an absolute joy to be around

I rode her today. Shes got the best natural headset Ive ever seen. Esp for an ottb. Shes a little long uncollected but I was suprized she didnt even lean at all on me. She was actually starting to round with just light contact. I might just steal her If only she got along with my horses lol.
