Hullo People! I went out to get Jake and he has a fairly large cut on his chest. It wasn’t deep but it was long. Since there was no swelling or heat I just put anti bacterial spray on it. Is that good enough? He wasn’t reactive to me touching it.

That should be fine. Watch to be sure no flies are getting in to it. Horses are great healers for little surface injuries.

Thanks. I have got fly spray all over him. He has a rug but I didn’t put it on because it would be rubbing on the spot

I think an antibacterial spray is good enough for the wound but that looks like it was tore on a nail or something thin and sharp anyway so make sure he is up to date on a tetanus vaccine. Even if he is current but getting close to being due I'd go ahead and give him a booster.

I believe it was on barb wire. The horses are in the paddock next to the road and we had barb wire to keep the neighbours bull out
