Feed store stopped selling the feed I was using so I had to chose a diffrent one I chose nutreena something or other that reduses colic. Is making a switch like this gonna upset his stomach or will he be ok

Do you have any of the old stuff left? It's best to switch them over half old/ half new for a period of several days. If you don't have any left, I guess there's not much you can do other than give him extra hay for awhile to try to coat his stomach more while his body is adjusting to the new feed.

Is it the same type as the old feed (pelleted, extruded, sweet)? If it is and you don't have any old grain to mix it with - I wouldn't worry about it too much. Like MBP said, feed more hay while they adjust.

I personally think that most of the problems spring up when you switch between types of feed (pelleted to sweet, etc.).

Oh gosh..No he was on an oat feed and I switched to a pelleted..Ive been wanting to make this switch but seeing that they no longer carried his food and I was forced to make a switch I thought this was a good time to change to the food I wanted him on.Its been about 5 days and I havnt seen any problems..What should I be looking for
