Do powerful sports cars spook horses?

The really fast ones sound kind of like large predatory animals. If someone were to take one to the barn would the horses get scared?

I have a Camaro, the horses run like heck to the barn when I come but that's only because it's feeding time... They don't mind our dirt bikes, the rhino, or even the tractor... There is an airboat that go's by on the river that doesn't bother them... I think it all depends on how much you expose your horses to...

If you mean you want to drive this car of yours to the barn, I don't think that is unreasonable. Horses often are used to tractors, atvs, etc. As long as you are not revving it unnecessarily. There is no need to gun the engine until you are well out of the barn driveway. It is all about respect.

My horse is generally fearless, but he spooked tremendously when such a car suddenly came roaring and revving straight at us from a blind turn. That was one scary gallop home, as the morons driving it were actually chasing us for fun.

A car driving to the barn in a normal way and then being parked there shouldn't be a problem, though. Horses don't care if it's an old tractor or a cool sports car as long as it doesn't intentionally attack them.

My father rebuilds muscle cars, so I have to go with no.

My herd actually got out of the yard due to a fallen tree on the fence, and I ponied them home, over two miles, out the window of my Dad's 66 Mustang.

I know my herd will come running if they see any of the following

92 Camaro RS Convertible with a 305 under the hood. Super loud, love this car.

66 Mustang with a 302 under the hood. When I ponied the horses from her, she was running only glassbacks, no exhaust and was fresh off the drag racing tracks. You couldn't hear yourself think, yet the horses couldn't care less. When we finally sold her my horses followed the trailer down the pasture. They knew that car would come home with watermelon and carrots and adored her.
78 Camaro z28 with a 350, another drag racer rescue, and my horses use to stand beside the garage when she was running without a care in the world.

96 Firebird that had teeth marks from my teething colt.

And currently a 78 Lincoln Mark that my horse was just using for a scratching post.

So no. They aren't

It shouldn't. Obviously, don't rev the engine at a horse, but just driving up to the barn like normal shouldn't be an issue.

Back in high school the barn I was at was at the end of a dead end street. One day the ice cream truck had to come turn around on the property, and all of the horses were lookig at it while it was playing music. Suddenly, the truck said HELLOOO! And the horses all lost their marbles! Something about that truck freaked them out, but everyone survived.

The only horse I have who has a problem with motorized vehicles is my gelding. He apparently hated racing but loved chasing the race car/starting gate. So, for a little while if a truck came close to the riding area he would want to chase it. His issue is less fear and more OMG we NEED TO GET TO THE STARTLINE the race is about to start.

My horse had a problem with a small convertible once. I think seeing the people sitting inside kind of freaked her out. The people understood me signaling to slow to a crawl. Once they got close and the mare could see they were humans in a car just like all the others she was fine.

My horse lets loud four wheelers and dirt bikes drive behind without so much as flicking her ears... It depends though. I witnessed a gelding in the herd have a full on breakdown when a car revved their engine a bit too much.

I would actually advise you Not to bring it to the barn for a different reason altogether.... Hubby brought his 71 Mustang to the barn where we used to board. The farm dogs were overly curious, and kept jumping up on the car doors to see who was driving such a sweet ride. And of course, ****** all over the tires. Hubby was not impressed lol

If you hate the noise. Your horse will hate the noise. If you get anxious about the noise. Your horse will get anxious about the noise. If predators sounded like sports cars they would die of starvation. That bicycle coming up from behind, that is what a predator sounds like.
