I feed beet pulp to my mare. I use dry BP with molasses. I soak it for a little over 2 hours then drain it. My mare will eat it just like that. Now I have Tuff. He is off the track and has dropped a little weight since then. I give him a performance horse feed (that has about the same specs as senior horse feed). It is winter and he is able to free feed on hay (its a great quality hay). So I gave him BP the same way I fix it for all the other horse except I added extra molasses to sweeten it up more for him. He would NOT eat it. So I added his sweet feed to it and mixed it and then picky decides to eat it.

Do you have to fake out your horse to try new things. I swear I love this horse. He is different for sure!:p

I have a 28 going on 29 year old Arabian mare that can be hard to keep weight on. During the winter I give her a warm mash and I put her BP in that... but it has rice bran, alfalfa/bermuda pellets and her sweet feed as well... She'll slurp that right up. I've tried to fed her BP without any "cover ups", and she wasn't pleased with me ;)
