Hi everyone,

I have a 2011 Warmblood Filly who is going to be broken in at the end of this year - she will be my all-rounder, but I did buy her with the hopes of persuing some dressage with her . I would be doing lower level showing (haven't shown before) but would like to know what you all think of her -do you think she would do well in dressage with some training once she is broken in? Has she got potential for dressage? Thank you.

Her breeding (I only really know bloodlines such as Donnerhall but he is further back - does she have good breeding for a dressage prospect??): Aspen Australian Warmblood

Cute filly, looks very much like Voltaire. She has a lot of tb in her, which means she will likely be sensitive (which is good news/bad news depending upon your skills). Not very developed yet, perhaps a late developer?

Her breeding isn't really special, and the conformation shots are dark and hard to tell much from. But personally, I would wait another 6-12 months to allow her to mature before starting her. She is much to immature to be handling work and the weight of a rider!
Personally, it takes for me a very special horse to want to see it started at 3. It would have to be a horse with a very good chance for the young horse championships. Otherwise, starting at 4 and even 5 is better for the horse.

As far as dressage, it will remain to be seen but were the horse for sale as a dressage prospect, I would pass.

What don't you care for in the bloodlines? the wb are nice, the tbs all wonderfully boned distance horses with a sport horse type. Very trainable, and what the OP said she wanted for lower levels. Just very immature/undeveloped at the moment.

I like her trot in the movement video. She looks a little light of bone, but it could be the age. Cute mare. You'll have fun doing low level stuff with her. She still looks like a baby to me, though, so I'd keep the training light this year. You can do all kinds of ground work and get her used to tack. Hopping on and walking her under saddle and doing really low stress type stuff probably won't hurt though.

Her breeding is quite typical for an Australian WB - the registry is not as lax as the American warmbloods, they must have genuine warmblood breeding, but the stock is generally not the quality of a European registry animal.

Voltaire shows up in the lines of many 'ok' horses in Dressage at a local level, but there are not too many doing overly well.
Poetry in Motion they had high hopes for but he never really amounted to anything.

Her breeding is 'ok', very very typical for a first 'warmblood'

As for conformation - I agree with Anebel, she needs to be turned out for another 6-12 months at least to mature, she is very much a baby.
I broke mine at 3, because he was mentally ready for it - but he's being worked only 1-2x per week for 20-30mins max.
