equi-spot PLUS fly spray?

Ok, maybe I am just not persistent enough, but I couldn't find the answer to that, so I am asking y'all:

I am using equi-spot on my mare and while it made a huge difference in the number of flies/horseflies eating her alive, they are still pestering her quite a bit.
Now I was wondering if it is safe to "supplement" with some extra fly spray.

I am hesitant to do so, because too many people have (inadvertently) poisoned their cats with too frequent flea-treatment applications.

Advice? Experiences?

Thanks, Yogiwick.
My gut feeling just got confirmed.

Personally, I prefer fly spray as well, as you can apply on a as- needed basis. But my new mare is a complete nutcase when she sees a spray bottle. And there are other holes in her training that have priority for fixing, so I took the easy route

I believe on the instructions it says not to reapply before so many days nor use other fly products using the same ingredients. Maybe you could use an all natural spray along with it, I really don't know since I didn't stick with using it either.
