I was just wondering if anyone else out there rides their horse to the nearest espresso stand. I do!
Ricci and I walk down the side of the road about a mile and a half to the nearest [well, the better of the two] espresso stand. I even have to stop at a stoplight and bend over to reach the "push to cross" button. It gets even more difficult when I have to cross back, horse and drink in one hand, pushing button with the other, lol.
The espresso stand I go to even has a picture of me and Ricci inside, and they keep baby carrots for Ricci. =]
It amazes me how courteous a lot of drivers are. Even though Ricci is totally traffic safe [as long as you aren't a big chicken] and we don't need the several feet of extra room they give us, it's still really nice when most of the cars slow down and go partly into the other lane to give us more room. And being on horseback seems to make everyone friendly, they all wave, haha. My favorite is the mom's pointing enthusiastically out the window trying to get their kid to look. I only get a rare few people who honk or speed by super close, I almost lost my knee to a side-view mirror once.
Today was the first time we went in a while and Ricci was being quite the turd, kept finding something "scary" to tremble at. Because that's what she does, she trembles, because she knows she can't veer into the road. And, on a hilarious note, we walked by a house with a cat in the yard, and it hunkered down and crept up on us! Like that 7lb cat really has a chance of taking down all 1500lbs of Ricci, haha. It was adorable. =]
I just had a great ride and a great soy chai this morning, and wanted to share. Sorry for the novel. =D
