I like the idea of them and someday would like to compete in one. Just for the fun of it because most of that stuff is just a variation of what I do every day anyway.

I have a horse that I think would be good at it but most of them are too far away. The one thing I don't like is the riding bareback. Too old for that but maybe thats not for amatures?

Honestly, I'd never heard of them until today while watching RFD-TV. Had planned to look them up to see what they were like.

I have a friend who entered her horse in a couple of the Cowboy Races with Craig Cameron. She had her trainer ride her horse. She really likes them and I like the concept, although I don't think I'm ready to enter one, lol!

But I would love to just have a trail obstacle course to play around with like that. Not being timed or anything, but just to work my horses through the obstacles. That would be cool!

I think the cowboy challenges are great! Whether it's an actual Craig Cameron one or something more local....
The cowboy challenge is good for english and western horses since it is all about good horsemanship and teaching your horse to be adaptable and multi-talented.
I did one at a week-long trail ride and it was great! We had to open adn close gates, sidepass, throw a lasso, ride down a steep hill, go through pool noodles hanging above the horse's head, etc. Good training for any horse. My little arab did great, my new guy has yet to be tested.

I have been making plans this winter to build some obstacles and try to make one for us to use at home.. I think it would be good for our horses and myself and my husband. I would love to be able to go watch one, but I think the closest around here is about 4 - 5 hours from me..

They look like alot of fun, I would have to agree  We did a "remake" of one at our 4-H horse clinic, and we had a blast. It was timed and everything. Very good idea. We were going to go see it at Equine Affair last year in Columbus, Ohio but we didnt end up staying that long :-(
