So my new Toulouse Natina saddle has a more forward flap than my last saddle, and I tried it on my Rider's International square pad and the girth would come no where near fitting in the girth straps. Are there specific pads for forward flaps, or could I just not use the girth straps?

as long as the pad doesn't seem to be slipping back under the saddle i see no need to use the girth straps on the pad to run the girth through. i rode for years with an AP english saddle and not once put the girth straps to use on the various saddle pads i used. even now, with my wintec dressage and very square dressage pad do i rarely use the girth straps on the pad.
