I'm thinking about trying out a new bit for Abby. I was thinking of a French link but then I saw an O-ring with a peanut. Which one do you think would be better?

In my opinion, both mouth-pieces will have the same effect. Double-jointed snaffles are great! My horse loves them. I tried both the French and Bean/Peanut types and found my horse was slightly softer in the Peanut. I believe it's just personal preference (for the horse), whichever fits his mouth better.

Both of them look like nice bits, but if your horse is a chewer I wouldn't go with one that had a rubber mouthpiece. I'm afraid it wouldn't last you very long! I like the bit that Rachel suggested too.

is stateline tack US or Canadian? Thanks for all of your input! The more the better :) I thought it was plastic? But that probably wouldn't be good either because we had a plastic covered one before and good chewed.. I forgot about that LOL

Yeah, I use the JP by Korsteel bits too. They are nice quality and inexpensive. As for the cheeks, I have the loose ring, D-ring, and eggbutt. Again, it's personal preference (what your horse goes in best) that matters. I find the D-ring and eggbutt are pretty equivalent (I just use D-ring for hunter & eggbutt for Dressage). My horse wasn't as responsive in a loose ring plus I was afraid I would pull it through his mouth if I needed to do an emergency 1-rein stop or something. However, some horses do BETTER in a loose ring because they get that momentary warning before the cue (when the ring slides to adjust to a change in contact).

I too agree that the plastic/rubber covered bits are not all that glamorous. They get chewed, plus they always seem to be kind of bulky (the inside of your horse's mouth isn't all that big).

I have oval mouth for both mine (one eggbutt, one loose ring), and they seemed to like it over the french link. So I'd vote peanut. :)

Thanks for the input! I am going to look for an eggbutt, hopefully Abby will like it!
Does it cost more to ship it to canada?
