this horse is bloated with worms, notice on pic the swollen belly and real skinny neck. give him two wormers per month. look up hookworms and roundworm symptoms.
Well most of you know Junior, eventerwannabe's horse that I used to ride. Junior came to eventerwannabe as an abusive situation rescue. She got him back to health and then I met him and started working him back up to jumping shape.

Well about four months ago her mom said that he had to go because she hates him and we found a home for him. It started out going ok but slowly the lady turned into a flake. We just went and picked him up from her on saturday and we are not happy with what we found.

He is underweight, his hooves were trimmed completely wrong and they shoed him which we do not do because he has to have special shoes the regular shoes mess him up, his hooves are also covered with shallow cracks, she left a too small nylon halter on him while he was in a paddock for 3 1/2 months so he has rub marks, he has no muscle left, he is back sore, he has a cut on his foreleg, she was feeding him very low quality hay, not enough grain and wasn't keeping up on water. She also didn't blanket him as much as she should have.

Needless to say he was happy to come home, he hates trailers and does not load well but when we got to him on saturday all I did was lead him to the trailer and he loaded right up no fuss. He is very happy to be home and is getting a month off of just food and love before he starts groundwork again to slowly build his muscles back up.

Anywho I am creating this thread as a progress thread for him, take a look see if you want, comments and questions or what not are welcome.

Oh and when we arrived at the lady's house she was not there, her son was. He was in a small pasture with very chewed down grazing, no remnants of hay anywhere, no remnants of grain anywhere and no water.

Rode yesterday. Didn't go so great. Junior is being quite stubborn and I am really off balance in my jumping saddle. *sigh* Anyways, he just wasn't listening and he HATES the arena, so we need ot figure something out. I will probably have to figure out how to seperate Bear from the main field so I can just ride out there. Got some pictures, but I am not going to post them (okay, I might post one or two).

Duma:
Please, don't post something like that about a horse you know nothing about. Junior naturally had a thin neck, even when he is muscled up. Also, he gets a hay belly very easily (due to him being older and being a hard keeper he gets lots of hay). If you are talking about the pictures of when he came back, yeah, he is very wormy. The lady had him for 3 months and did a horrible job of taking care of him. She didn't worm him at all. He is up to date on worming now and he isn't wormy any longer. I understand you were just trying to point something out, but those pictures are old and he doesn't look anything like that any more.

And try reading the whole thread before posting . Especially when the thread is over a month old :?.

BTW Eventerwannabe Junior is looking great :D. Sorry he wasn't cooperating with you yesterday, hopefully things will go smoother next time.

Long time no update! ;)

Junior is great. I have been riding him a lot more and can get on him by myself (and after my mounting accident, that is kind of big). I have been riding him western, as I think both of us are burnt out on english. We will start doing english again in a few weeks, starting out with dressage, since he needs to get back into shape before he is jumping (same goes for me). He is looking SO great. His coat is super shiny and he has a lot more energy.

Junior was about to go out to a barn about 45 minutes from me and be a lesson horse there, but after my mom and I talked about it last night, we agree'd that he needs to stay here a while longer. It was going to be a good situation, but not exactly what we wanted (they wanted to just lease him until their main lesson horse was better). He would have been in lessons 5 days a week with probably 1-2 rides a day. He would get really upset with this, as he likes only having to "deal" with one person at a time. My trainer's mom is interested in him though. So once she is cleared to ride (surgery) she will start taking lessons on him probably. But until then it is the two of us (and Bear). :)

I am going to be taking him to a few schooling shows (just local ones), probably just one a month and depending on how long I have time, I will take him to a few of the "B" shows.

Anyways, I got some video of our ride yesterday. I just need to make an edited video to post to youtube. He was pretty awesome, I did wear my spurs to see how he would act with them and he was alright. I prefer how he acts without the spurs (with them he gets really grouchy), so I will stick to that.

I got some new tack, which is over at Aubre's new barn and I am planning on bringing it back today. he is going to look SO awesome in the new bridles he got. I will make sure and take LOTS of pictures of him wearing them tomorrow when I ride.

Anyways, that is it for now.

Thanks Barrel!! :D He is such a good boy. Im surprised that he is looking so good this spring, I was expecting him to have a hard time getting back to health, but I guess all the extra things we did to get him healthy again helped!
