I wouldn't buy that saddle of any other Synthetic saddle. They are not are good as a real leather saddle. Good Luck, I know you don't want to spend a ton of money but you get what you pay for.

I think you will enjoy riding in a western saddle. I agree about the leather not plastic/fake saddles. Real leather is much safer and better quality. You can find good quality leather saddles fairly cheap on e-bay. Teaching a horse to neck rein is very simple. It wont take long and you will be a one handed girl.

That second saddle you listed doesn't look too terrible. I definitely would go with leather rather than synthetic they're just more comfy.

Just check the sizing and make sure you're getting a good fit for your pony and you. Pay attention to the seat size. You don't want to get a saddle that's way too big. Statelinetack.com has sizing chart to help you figure it out if you need it.

ok does the saddle fit? And I can not stress this enough get a coach!! Learn the basics. Learn how to keep your horse round on a loose rein, move off your legs... Its alot of work and it can not be taken lightly. =).

If you're just going to trail ride you should be perfectly fine with english training. The only problem with going from english to western is that the hroses often won't take the extra weight very well. The western saddle covers more of the back and makes them feel unbalanced, or at least until they get used to having it.

i wouldnt worry about working in a curb bit. they are mostly for hard competition in show rings and rodeo... if your just going to do pleasure riding and trail i would work in a snaffle maybe with a short shank.

HAVE FUN WESTERN RIDING IS GREAT!!!
