I think my 18(?) year old mare is going blind
She used to never spook at anything, but now she's jumping at little things like a gate or a dog. When it gets dark out, she goes completely bonkers, and when its windy, she gets so scared she's dangerous to be around... When I ride her, she tends to bump into fences and doesn't recognize the need to turn by the wall... she also has been bumping herself into the fence in her pasture a lot, and has even accidentally got her foot caught in the fence twice.
There's been no changes in her diet or routine, when she got her vaccinations this spring, the vet said she was healthy, and theres nothing else i can think of that would cause her to act strange
i've tried waving my finger by her eye to see if she flinches or anything, and she doesn't unless i snap my fingers or get extremely close to her eye...
Is she going blind? Is there anything I can do to calm her down or help her?
