When I unloaded Eric off his previous owners trailer he was in poor shape.

I don't know what he would have rated on the number scale.

I know weight tapes are not 100 percent but give a rough estimate. At 16.1 and a half the tape put him at 898 pounds the day he arrived.

This was about two months before I convinced her not to free lease him to random strangers that wouldn't "understand him" and to just sell him to me. This was the first time I seen him in years. My heart broke. The horse behind him was sent to a rescue I believe.

August, first day home.

Anyhow. It's now January obviously. The weight tape put him at 1200 pounds!

These are all photos within the last two weeks. He's come a long way!

These are pretty new. Last week I think.

These are from the end of December but the best head on shots I got.

I think he looks happier too. I sure hope so! Anyhow I was just glad and wanted to share him with the forum.

I absolutely LOVE the pictures of you two together! You both look so alive and happy to be together!
Erik is looking great. Keep up the good work! He definitely has some "zing" and "pop" to him that he didn't have before. =)

He looks awesome! I love the 1st picture, absolutely my favorite!

What was it that you put him on - feed wise? I remember you PM'ing me about it....but I lost it.

Well the feed was just a grain from a grain mill here. I'm not sure what you'd call it exactly. He had grain, hay and grass to graze on.

I also wormed him. Nothing speical and no special food. Just food daily is all it took.

Rissa, I've been following Eric's story since the day you brought him back home, read your entire story on him and it made me cry tears of joy the day you unloaded him...you're truely put the LIFE back in his eyes. You can see not just a physical change, but a mental one as well. The first picture in your second post says it all...

Amazing job, the world needs more horse lovers and owners like yourself.
