The best thing to use is this: http://eponaproducts.com/products/grooming_tools/1011 Their called shed flowers and it doesn't seem like it would work because its basically a plasticy type of material (im not sure its plastic but i think it is). As soon as my mare starts to shed I use this on her. I used it basically like a curry comb (but i still curry first). Go around in circles and it will get alot of the hair off. I can no longer go a spring without it
I use a round metal curry in the direction of the hair growth (don't "curry" with it!). Make sure you are grooming near a sturdy non-living object, so you can hit the curry on it to quickly remove the hair that accumulates on the brush.
A nice warm bath will relax the follicles as well as remove any dirt and allow the dead shaft to fall out easier. If anything get a few steamy towels and lay them over her and let them sit for a few minute, then curry really well, repeat.
