She can be traced to Doc Bar, an excellent foundation horse. Doc Bar is a great producer, typically of cutting type money winners. He is my mare's great grandsire. I love a good Doc Bar horse!

 

3 times Three Bars and 2 times King from the Havanugget stud, Dry Doc, all a couple of generations back so some nice foundation blood but nothing up front that catches my eye. I think the sire of your horse may now be gelded but havent checked AQHA records? Perhaps you know the answer to that. Should be a nice working horse.

 

I have a Doc Bar horse too! There is a very very reputable trainer here in Nebraska that seems to know a lot about certain bloodlines and he told me some things about the Doc Line that really hold true about my horse. Doc horses are intelligent, and sometimes too smart for their own good. They also are mostly go with little stop. Meaning all they want to do is go go go go, faster faster faster. That is very true about my horse, he isn't satisfied until I have let him have a good run. They like complicated work and get bored easily and tend to act up when bored....also my horse to a T.

I think Cinny is one of the few Doc horses actually being used for Dressage. Usually they do more cowy things like Reining, Cutting, barrels, etc.

That sounds a lot like my Doc Bar mare! Even as a 19 year old, she is still as spunky as always. I can tell when she just needs to run it out. Once she gets it out of her system she is fine, but there is no avoiding it! Not to say that she is all gas pedal... She is very reliable on trails and extremely gentle on the ground. We had a pony party here for a 4 year olds birthday, and she sweetly gave pony rides to 15 kids. That takes a special kind of horse, especially when they were painting her (lol should have seen the looks she gave me). She was happy at the end of the day when she got her treats.

My fiancé's little sister is a novice who has been riding since the spring. She asked me if she could try cantering a few weeks ago, and off we went with my mare to the arena. When it came time to go, my mare just did a few strides and then broke down into a trot again. She could tell that her rider was just a beginner and took care of her. With me, it's a different story. She makes mom work! lol
