this was before trim. as stated i am my own farrier. over the last year i had other farriers trim him and he was A LOT worst off and im still trying to fix that crap. one person trimmed EXACTLY like i trim and i payed $50 every 6 weeks. might as well do it myself. but his feet have been a issue for most of his 12 years of life (before i started trimming him too). so yes hoof x rays are in the works. holidays, bills, board, feed and paying the vet back still and the supplements he needs are delaying the x rays atm.

Type of Feed

he is eating only Alfalfa/bermuda pellets. and considering we are going to be paying an arm and a leg on supplements for him i dont see a reason to buy a "feed" per say. the vit E is $175 alone.
Suggestion on the feed... go with a simpler approach with a higher quality. Contact Triple Crown for specifics, but using one of their primary feeds, then a supplement/balancer can make a big difference. For me, it has eliminated a lot of headache of multiple feeds my horse was being given at the adoption center and will be given my boy better nutrients as well. The cost is nominal, especially if your trying to provide nutrients that aren't found in other feeds, then having to toss in things like your vit E. That's reason alone to try a new feed.

the vit E is for neurological issues. most feeds have like 3k units of vit e. he needs and will be getting 16k units of Vit E. i can see but i have 4 horses who will need it. and between vet, bord, chiro and feed (it cost $18 a day to feed them the thought of adding another $15 a day to feed is not something i want to do RIGHT now. i will look into it. that said the vit E is a 6 month supply and its for his neurological issues mostly. his vit e levels are 150 when they should be at 200. that may be enough to cause him to get sore more easily and aggravate a neurological issue if he already had one (and he dose). in 6 months i can look into that but that is NOT feasible right now. time of year, and all the other bills just done make it work.

in other news odie is doing FANTASTIC. he got excited yesterday and started jumping and bucking around his stall. safe to say he is doing 99% better. that means this issue is 70% chiro 20% headshakers (100% of the chiro issues are from headshakers).
