Raven has a lump on her belly, its about the size of a cut in half softball. We think it is a hernia because it is squishy but belly on the outer edge.
Any ideas?
If she has an infection in her hoof or lower leg it will swell along the belly because the skin is too tight on the legs. Call the vet and see what he/she says.
It is entirely possible that it is a hernia. The things mentioned by the PP are possible too, the only way to know for sure is to have the vet look at it. Dobe has had a hernia on his right side for about 4 years now due to an injury. I just check it occasionally to make sure that it hasn't changed size or appearance or that it's not sore or hot. Vet said that so long as it isn't causing him any problems, don't worry about it, just keep an eye on it for any changes that could indicate a problem.
