Hi, HorseForum'ers!

Alright, I'm pregnant, as some of you know, and going through the "name list process." I was wondering if naming your child the same as your horse was weird? Not naming AFTER the horse, just having the same name... For example, these names appear on my "name list":

• Cooper (also the name of my Quarter pony)
• Cody (also the name of my Vanner)
• Kassidy (also the name of my Vanner)
• Caoimhe (also a Vanner)
• Lyyli (my Friesian)

I didn't name most of these horses, (I picked out Caoimhe) but like the names. Of course I have picked other names, too, but these are just some that...happen to be the same!

Would to be too creepy if they (horse and child) had the same name? Just looking for opinions here.

that's funny... I had a friend that was named Alli and her horse was named Ali Oops.... nobody thought that was wierd....

I guess I'm going to be the one to disagree with you on that one,
no offense, just my opinion...don't get me wrong I love my horses,
but I'm not going to give my child the same name. :shock:

How many months are you along? I'm 3 months and a few days.

I'm going to have to agree that I would not want to name my child after any of my horses or other animals that I've had/have. I love my horses/animals but I don't feel the need to share their names.
My kids have names that are recycled from parents,grandparents and etc. to show respect for our heritage and our loved ones.
(also, names that are easy to pronounce and understand by others is helpful in their futures. Kids are curel and choosing names that are too unique may buy them a ticket to the laugh factory)

i have to agree with G7, i read that a baby that get's stuck with a odd pronoucing name most likley will not end up in a high end job...(strange but true)....my husband and i also recycled names for our boy's, charles (charlie) warner (2) is named for his uncle and best friend and warner is my husbands middle name, jacob (jake) rider (6 mos) i wanted a name that started with a j to honner my mother who died last year and jackson was out so we desided on jacob, rider(i wanted it ryder but hubby spelt it with a i on ther cert) was named after the great grand father on my husbands side who drown trying to say his grand son.....my daughter sarah was named for a friend who privet plane went down in lake ontario just oue side of toronto 15 years ago.....so yeah there recycled names....although i thought i've never had a normal name....Gillian....lived in quebec and the french could never pronouc it "julien" ....the americans always butcher it if they have not hurd of gillian anderson.......so i've gone from gillian to just gill be cause not one can say it.....i worked at a school fpr a year and came across some names that made you go hhhhmmm...one kids name was jurney bird!!! go figure
