  • On a scale of 1(one being easy) to 10(ten being very difficult) How would you rate caring for your own horse? I would say it would be a 6. Gets easier as you go and depends on your own opinion of what's acceptable and what's not.
  • Which one do you enjoy more-Owning on your own property, boarding, or leasing? I LOVE owning my own property. None of that boarding drama or contracts for leases.
  • Could you not live without your horse? I don't know. Practically, I probably could. but I would definitely prefer NOT to!
  • Is your horse your BFF? lol Definitely. They are much better personalities than people :D
  • Does the time of owning and caring for a horse pull you away from awesome opportunities? No, not really. It opens more opportunities than it closes
  • Do you ever regret purchasing your horse? Absolutely not. It's amazing.
  • Are they worth everything you have given up? Yes. like I said, horses are better than people. They are always worth it.
  • Does owning a horse pile on more stress? Or is it the thing that takes stress away and helps you get through the day? Depends on the day and what I am doing. Usually, they are a stress reliever, but when I am in competition mode, sometimes they are stressors.

3 or 4...
  • Which one do you enjoy more-Owning on your own property, boarding, or leasing?
I've never leased or boarded. I love my family owning our own property.
  • Could you not live without your horse?
Not really sure... I dunno what I'd do if I didn't have horses...
  • Is your horse your BFF? lol
Yes, I'd have to say... definately.
  • Does the time of owning and caring for a horse pull you away from awesome opportunities?
Nope, I don't get out much, anyway... lol.
  • Do you ever regret purchasing your horse?
I've never purchased a horse, yet... I was given my mare and my uncle bred my mare for me so I'd get a foal for my sixteenth birthday.
  • Are they worth everything you have given up?
Definately!

  • On a scale of 1(one being easy) to 10(ten being very difficult) How would you rate caring for your own horse?
Probably a 6..

  • Which one do you enjoy more-Owning on your own property, boarding, or leasing?
Boarding.. I would like to have my own barn if I had an indoor and good facilities, but otherwise no thank you.

  • Could you not live without your horse?
To be completely honest, I could live without him.

  • Is your horse your BFF? lol
No, definitely not.

  • Does the time of owning and caring for a horse pull you away from awesome opportunities?
Not really. The only thing I've had to give up for having a horse is sports, and I had to give them up for other reasons as well(injuries!) so it wasn't really that difficult. I manage to spend time with my friends and being a high school senior at a college prep school while managing to ride at least 5 days a week, so I have good time management skills I guess?

  • Do you ever regret purchasing your horse?
Yes. I wish that I would have waited until I knew what I really wanted.

  • Are they worth everything you have given up?
As I said before, I haven't really given up anything to have my horse.. so I guess I don't really have an answer. lol

  • Does owning a horse pile on more stress? Or is it the thing that takes stress away and helps you get through the day?
Neither nor really.. I have days where I despise my horse so much and he makes life difficult, but then there are days when I really love him haha

* On a scale of 1(one being easy) to 10(ten being very difficult) How would you rate caring for your own horse?
Probably a 4. My horses eat grass in the Summer, which isn't any work. They are in a 24/7 turnout. And in the Winter we just give them round bale after round bale until the grass is growing really good (April or May) Every time I go over there I give them sweet feed. But I don'y weigh it out or anything. No labor intensive work, but sometimes they worry me.
* Which one do you enjoy more-Owning on your own property, boarding, or leasing?
Owning on my own property. No one to steal stuff from you! I would kind of like to see what a boarding stable is like, but I don't ride so it's kind of pointless...
* Could you not live without your horse?
NO! Especially not Havana :)
* Is your horse your BFF? lol
Absolutely! :D
* Does the time of owning and caring for a horse pull you away from awesome opportunities?
No. My horses's pretty much take care of themselves. (Yes, I brush them) I'm just saying they never get out, get caught in a fence, hurt.
* Do you ever regret purchasing your horse?
Havana no. Shelly yes. Shelly has cronic laminites, and I get a lot of crap about it from people who don't even know me. I love her, but when you have animal control watching your every move, it sucks. I don't want to sell her because of her bad hooves, and she is old. She would probably meet a sad end.
* Are they worth everything you have given up?
Yes x10
* Does owning a horse pile on more stress? Or is it the thing that takes stress away and helps you get through the day?
Both. I have to worry about them being safe, and if I can get hay. (Really no reason to, I always do :?) But at the end of the day it nice to see them fat and happy. :p

  • On a scale of 1(one being easy) to 10(ten being very difficult) How would you rate caring for your own horse?
5 - It would be MUCH easier for me if I could have my horses in my backyard. I board my horses at my friends barn, which she rents from someone else. So I have to deal with how she likes to do things, and work around some of them.

  • Which one do you enjoy more-Owning on your own property, boarding, or leasing?
I would absolutely LOVE having my horses on my own property.

  • Could you not live without your horse?
TBH, it depends on the horse. lol I love my mare Athena to death, and when she dies I know I'll take it pretty hard.

  • Is your horse your BFF? lol
Sure

  • Does the time of owning and caring for a horse pull you away from awesome opportunities?
Nope

  • Do you ever regret purchasing your horse?
NO! It took me over a decade of persuading before my parents finally caved, and bought my first horse. :p

  • Are they worth everything you have given up?
YES!

  • Does owning a horse pile on more stress? Or is it the thing that takes stress away and helps you get through the day?
It's the one thing that I look forward to every day.

On a scale of 1(one being easy) to 10(ten being very difficult) How would you rate caring for your own horse?

at the moment its way up there around 8 or 9, as there is zero feed in the paddocks and virtually no hay around

Which one do you enjoy more-Owning on your own property, boarding, or leasing?

without a doubt things would be much easier if I had my own property, its irritating having someone else breathing down your neck when you just wanna chill with your horses

Could you not live without your horse?

practically speaking yes, but I would never be the same person after losing them

Is your horse your BFF? lol

Rexy baby always listens to my whinging about my day so I guess so haha

Does the time of owning and caring for a horse pull you away from awesome opportunities?

I wouldnt say that at all. Pouring all my money in to them definitely gives me far less of a social life.

Do you ever regret purchasing your horse?

Never, none of them. Rex & Hugo are my soul mate horses, Trojan is my partner's soul mate horse, Fanta is mum's soul mate horse, Nippa needed some TLC and is cleaning up in to the best little pony and will be fantastic for kids in the long run and Kody & Phoenix needed out of where they were so I got them out!

Are they worth everything you have given up?

Without a doubt, and they remind me of it everytime i show up at the paddock and they all greet me at the fence

Does owning a horse pile on more stress? Or is it the thing that takes stress away and helps you get through the day?

it really does depend on the day, but the horses don't really stress me out its more where they are, so I guess no they don't pile on the stress and they definitely pull me through when I am having a bad one

  • Could you not live without your horse? Deffinatly not it does deppend on the horse though but i cant let go of delta.

  • On a scale of 1(one being easy) to 10(ten being very difficult) How would you rate caring for your own horse?
I'd say about a 6. There's some heavy lifting, and life is always harder in the winter, but I personally enjoy the work. :D

  • Which one do you enjoy more-Owning on your own property, boarding, or leasing?
I love having my guy at home! No "commute", I always know what's going on with my horse, and no drama!

  • Could you not live without your horse?
Survive, yes. Thrive, no.

  • Is your horse your BFF? lol
Yeppers! :D

  • Does the time of owning and caring for a horse pull you away from awesome opportunities?
Not too much. Since I do have him at home rather than boarded, I am a bit tied down as far as traveling, but I've never really minded. Plus my awesome family really steps up to the plate if I need them to take care of things for a couple of days.

  • Do you ever regret purchasing your horse?
Two words: NEV - ER. :D

  • Are they worth everything you have given up?
Absolutely.

  • Does owning a horse pile on more stress? Or is it the thing that takes stress away and helps you get through the day?
I do worry about my horse when I'm away (I'm a student, and away from home except for weekends for the school year), and that can be a little stressful at times not being right there to take care of him, but when I do get home and get to mess with Scout, it is a tremendous stress reliever.

  • On a scale of 1(one being easy) to 10(ten being very difficult) How would you rate caring for your own horse?
When all goes well (no injuries to take care of ) a 3 or 4
  • Which one do you enjoy more-Owning on your own property, boarding, or leasing?
Owning on my own property.
  • Could you not live without your horse?
Of course I could live without my horses, and probably will one day , but I am thoroughly enjoying having them in my life now.
  • Is your horse your BFF? lol
No, lol, I have human friends for that. I do have very good relationships with my horses, but they are horses. Best friends do many things together and share ideas, philosophies, ect...
  • Does the time of owning and caring for a horse pull you away from awesome opportunities?
They are my awesome opportunities. I've waited a long time to finally own and keep my horses. I am very home based, have created my own little paradise here, so no, don't feel that I am missing a thing. Of course I am older, raised my family.
  • Do you ever regret purchasing your horse?
Only when one is injured (vet bills) and when the hay needs to be paid for and brought in! LOL!
  • Are they worth everything you have given up?
Right now they are. I don't need to follow the fashion trends like I did when I was younger, and don't need to travel for business as I did years ago. So, I don't really feel I'm giving up more than I'm getting in return right now.
  • Does owning a horse pile on more stress? Or is it the thing that takes stress away and helps you get through the day?
LOL! Both! But all worth it. Sometimes knowing that they need to be exercised is stressful for me, yet finally making the time and doing it is relaxing to me. So it is a bit of both.

Definitally, he get's me through the high's and lows of the day, and i can't imagine not being with him

Does the time of owning and caring for a horse pull you away from awesome opportunities?
No, not really i own alot of animals already, and i don't go out very often other than school, if anything riding and owning my horse open up opportunies :)

It doesn't pile up more stress, it really make's me relaxed depending how our day went, if he was crazy and not listening that i will be stressed, but he is usually and angel, and even if he is spirited i cannot get mad at him :)

  • On a scale of 1(one being easy) to 10(ten being very difficult) How would you rate caring for your own horse?
Hmm. The hardest part is keeping up with the manure, especially when it's muddy and you can't pick it up for a while. But otherwise, I enjoy all aspects of horse care. So I dunno, maybe a "6" for manure maintenance!

  • Which one do you enjoy more-Owning on your own property, boarding, or leasing?
Well, I actually don't own the property, my parents do, but I used to board and I LOVE having the horses right out the back door instead. Boarding is okay, but I would much rather have them at home.

  • Could you not live without your horse?
Well, I will NEVER say never, but let's just say that if I am at all physically able, I hope to always have horses in my life!

  • Is your horse your BFF? lol
Most definitely! Besides family, they are the one thing I can always depend on!

  • Does the time of owning and caring for a horse pull you away from awesome opportunities?
Only when it comes to vacations. I find that I am reluctant to leave for any overnight trips, even just for one night, because I will have to get someone to feed. I have great neighbors, but I don't want to impose on them unless I really have to leave for some reason.

  • Do you ever regret purchasing your horse?
Only when they mis-behave, lol! Naw, I consider them members of the family! I did have a couple of horses that didn't work out, but the horses I have now I hope to keep until they die.

  • Are they worth everything you have given up?
Yes!!!

  • Does owning a horse pile on more stress? Or is it the thing that takes stress away and helps you get through the day?
They are my stress relievers! I actually find that I kind of go through withdrawls when I don't get to ride often enough!

The main thing I think, is you either have the horse gene or you don't. I definitely do! They are a lifestyle, not a hobby. If you want a horse more than anything in the world, then they are worth all the work and money because there is nothing you would rather spend it on. :)

  • On a scale of 1(one being easy) to 10(ten being very difficult) How would you rate caring for your own horse?
About 6-7. Just because it can be so time consuming

  • Which one do you enjoy more-Owning on your own property, boarding, or leasing?
On my own property. But at one stage I had no where to ride, so I would have rathered to have boarded.

  • Could you not live without your horse?
No, I could live without horses, just don't really want to.

  • Is your horse your BFF? lol
No, not that I don't love my horse, but thats what my friends are for.

  • Does the time of owning and caring for a horse pull you away from awesome opportunities?
Not really, I guess it stops me from partying too late because I still have to feed them the next morning, but then that is probably a good thing.

  • Do you ever regret purchasing your horse?
No

  • Are they worth everything you have given up?
Yes, I don't really feel that I have had to give too much up for them, but I guess that could change.

  • Does owning a horse pile on more stress? Or is it the thing that takes stress away and helps you get through the day?
Bit of both. Some days are bad, some are good.

On a scale of 1(one being easy) to 10(ten being very difficult) How would you rate caring for your own horse? I'd say 2. We very deliberately set up our place for ease of care. My horses live out, with access to stalls with mats. They have free choice pasture or hay, do not require grain and I muck once a week into a front end loader. Daily chores are only checking water or checking them over.
Which one do you enjoy more-Owning on your own property, boarding, or leasing? Own property. I both boarded, and ran boarding stables. Having my horses on my own property was a life long dream that I finally acheived at 50. I will never ever board my horses, or have a boarder, ever again.
Could you not live without your horse?
I could, and I have lived without a horse. Just not very well.
Is your horse your BFF? lNo, he's better than a BFF.
Does the time of owning and caring for a horse pull you away from awesome opportunities? No, see 1. above. My horses are easy and low maintence. The ratio of work/pleasure is heavily skewed toward pleasure.
Do you ever regret purchasing your horse? never
Are they worth everything you have given up? yes
Does owning a horse pile on more stress? Or is it the thing that takes stress away and helps you get through. pulling into the driveway at the end of a long day and seeing my horses in the field always makes the stress of the rest of the day fade.

On a scale of 1(one being easy) to 10(ten being very difficult) How would you rate caring for your own horse?

For me that's a seasonal answer. 1 in the Summer and 5ish in the Winter. That's assuming there are no injuries or illness to deal with.

Which one do you enjoy more-Owning on your own property, boarding, or leasing?

My horses live on my Mother in law's farm so I am fortunate, I do not have to board. I would find boarding very stressful and worrisome, I don't trust anyone to take care of my babies except for me.

Could you not live without your horse?

I could live without them, but there would be a huge gaping hole in my heart that nothing else could fill.

Is your horse your BFF? lol

lol.. all my animals are my BFF's, I have a total of 9 pets (including my 2 horses) and I love and care for all of them equally.

Does the time of owning and caring for a horse pull you away from awesome opportunities?

Yep, but it's worth it

Do you ever regret purchasing your horse?

Only on the days that he's being a huge jerk, then I look into those huge brown eyes and fall in love all over again.

Are they worth everything you have given up?

And then some :)

Does owning a horse pile on more stress? Or is it the thing that takes stress away and helps you get through the day?

It does both. I stress about their health, I stress about the financial strain, I stress about the pastures/fences, I stress about all the chores that need to get done on the days that I'm not up for it, but my peace, my solace, my escape... the place I go to re-energize my soul is to my horses.
