I fairly recently got my new horse and ever since I got her she kicks in her stall when she eats but only when eating grain she is very calm while eating hay or treats. I’ve recently moved to a new barn because she didn’t have the correct care at the old one so it’s not just a certain place or a certain neighbor because she kicks at both old an new places. Does anyone know why she’s doing this?!

My Thoroughbreds did/do this. They all came from the track; a rough life. A competitive, high stress environment. Grain is a high value food (as opposed to hay) and like @Saigold mentioned, this is probably resource guarding.
