It's a very hard time for everyone at the moment especially people watching their horses grieving it makes it a bit worseHey I can definitely imagine :/. I would imagine it was traumatic, for you and the others involved, as well as the horses.
Our old horse passed suddenly, we assume a heart attack/aneurism or something like that. He was fine and just began suddenly staggering around, he actually knocked the barn wall off the foundation he hit it so hard. Unfortunately there's not much you can do at that point, and it's hard to watch
Don't worry about it. They all handle it differently. I wouldn't push him, just leave him alone and give him calm and quiet attention, like a nice groom or something. Try to be normal but calm at the same time.I took my TB in to let him sniff where the horse was buried and had passed and he tried to rear up got very spooky and his ears kept twitching.
