... I'm confused. But the skin IS pink.... Maybe I just don't get it. Hahaha. It wouldn't be the first, and sure won't be the last time I don't understand something. =P He's handsome!

^^The skin appears pink but it is a different kind of pink. If the skin had been white/pink like underneath the white markings of a paint horse, then it would have been hard to explain. Even though his skin is pinkish, you can still tell that it is dark skin and thus, no paint marking.

Poor guy. The judges aren't supposed to judge any scars/aesthetic problems, but that doesn't mean that they won't. I am sure that they will understand if you explain it to them. :D That stinks that you had to shave him, at least you know it will grow back.

That must have been a nasty wound. In open shows, I don't think the judge's will really question the white spots at all to have it factor into their placings. You could always get the colored coat spray to cover it up.

Where's the show you're going to?? I promised my husband no shows in January, but I might be able to sneak out to one...

Defintely the sorta pink color of a scar. Must have been a heck of a wound to change the hair color. Poor baby has to prove his battle scars. He sure is a good, solid looking fellow.

It's interesting. I had a stallion who hurt himself and was not onle the same color as him, but the skin was similar in color to. By looking at it looks like it should grow back the same color as the rest of the coat; having said that tho, my stud's color came in different than the rest of the coat. I'm guessing it will probably come back white again.

As for showing, I dont think you should have any big issues with the marks. Horses are horses and get into fights etc. You should be getting judged on your riding, his training and your guys's general turnout, not a spot that was shaven.

Keep us posted. I would be curious to see what color it comes out as.

As posted above, MTG is a very good option to help the hair grow back. Good luck.

You know, I see in catalogues sometimes this spray paint looking stuff, it comes in basic horse colours and you can spray it on to cover up bites and such. You might give that a try when you show if you're concerned that the judges won't like the look, it might make it look like there's hair there.
Just a thought. =) Good luck!

That is ridiculous! I can't believe that tiny spot was an issue! I'm curious to see how that spot grows back. Would love to see some new pictures when the hair comes back in.
