Well... I havn't really liked a horse this much other than Willow.. EVER. Until this little guy came around in october with his mama, who were going to be sent to slaughter. He's 5 months old, his name is Duke... and he WILL be mine:twisted:
The owner now keeps 3 horses out here, Duke and his mama plus some other gelding. She has never been out in the 3 years that she's kept horses here.. she pretty much just dropped em off and said the kids can ride him if they want. I can't afford to buy him right now, but for now I can work with him as much as I want so hopefully when I'm out of school I can buy him. I think I'm going to ask if someone can pass the message to her that I want her colt, or see if I can write her a letter or something lol.
Anyways, here he is!

PS- what do you think about the halter? I bought it for him What colour do you think would look good on him? I'm not a fan of chestnuts but this little guy stole my heart:lol:

I didnt like chesnuts till I found my weanling. They look very simmilar. I love the halter, but I try to keep them off babies (for turnout) while they are growing, he might also get it caught on the hay feeder. A big issue with babies is making sure they are regularly dewormed, they can get some bad worms most adults are resistent to.

Your biggest problem will be if the owner decided to sell him to someone else or moves the horses. It'll be a huge heart break.

Yea, I'm not a fan of leaving it on him but he comes in at night now so he has to wear it. Thanks for that tip, that reminds me, I need to deworm my girl next week! I think I am going to talk to his real owner soon, to see what her plans are for him. If she needs him gone, I might just have to find me 5 more jobs to pay for him!
