Thought I would put a link here to the info on Cerebellar Abiotrophy.
CA Status List
Most of you breeders have heard of SCID, and are aware there is a test for it. (if not go to www.FOAL.org for more info), but did you know about CA? Cerebellar Abiotrophy has so far been found in ALL bloodlines. From pure polish, to Russian, to Crabbet and even Straight egyptian.
I urge anyone breeding or thinking of breeding a horse to an arabian to make sure it has been tested. The test for CA comes from UC Davis. it is a simple DNA test for markers associated with CA. It is only 50 dollars, it is easy to do and worth it to avoid having an affected foal.
I hope everyone finds this information helpful.
