I am looking into some first aid items to buy before my horse. Saw this Emergency 911 Paste on the Pleasant Ridge site and wondered if it really works?

Thanks!

I've never heard of it. Can you post a link to it? I'm guessing it's something that could be helpful in some situations but not in most.

It depends on what it actually is and as with all things it may or may not be useful in a situation. It sound like a NSAID which can be helpful but can be harmful because it lowers heart rate which can be a key indicator of pain in colic. It could be something as semi-useless as electrolytes. I would read up on the ingredients.

One thing to check may be the expiration date. It might not necessarily be something that you want to continually have to replace if the expiration date isn't too far away!

I google it its a probiotic paste. It is not really worth it in my book because realistically in your emergency kit you want things that are going to help right away. The probiotics are going to take about a week or more to outcompete and get to "therapeutic" levels. It claims it helps colic but realistically if it stops colic than the colic was probably not that bad and would have resolved on its own. I don't think its worth the money.
