I just love Bear so much. He makes me so happy and even when he pins his ears and gets mean, he still makes me smile. He is so silly and loveable. As I always tell people, he is just like a polar bear, super cute and cuddly, but really quite dangerous, but deep down, he has a kind heart.
In my picture, I am up on my back porch, and Bear is standing on the ground, with his head up on the rail. That is one of his favorite things to do, it is super cute! =]

Very cute. If I loved as many boys as I love horses I'd be in trouble lol.

I love my mare, shes really respectful on the ground and shes just wonderful. My baby is crazy, but how could you not love a fuzzy little pony? I think my boyfriend knows it, but if it was him or the horses, i would choose the horses. I mean I love him to death, but he doesnt have a soft little muzzle and he dosent nicker when I come to feed him lol.

Yeah, me too.... ;]

I would choose my horses over boys any day! I love Bear's droopy lip, and his snarled nose when he pins his ears. I also love his velvet nose. That was the first thing I fell in love with about Bear, is his velvet nose. I remember everything about the first time I met him. Watching him hide in his stall, his cuts and scars, how angery he was, but I just had this gut feeling that I would stop riding if I didnt get him, or that I would just keep on leasing and never settle down with a horse. <3 him to death!

Share pictures people! =]

Aww! Bear is SUPER cute! I love that picture :D

Spirit's my baby and my first horse. We got him from a dude ranch where they loved him to death, but he was very unhappy there and wasn't getting fed enough. He's taught me so much just about life in general. Never thought I could love a horse as much as I love him, I mean, I love horses, but he just makes me smile. Everytime I ride another horse I come off with a better apreciation for him. He's an angel on the ground and so calm for being so young . . . anyways, here he is! Sorry for the pics being so big :?

This is my boy who I am riding now, Diesel. I rode him a lot this summer and fell in love. :) He is amazing both on the ground and under saddle, but has a few weird quirks. He almost never gets his head straight out in front of him, though he is getting better, and he hates getting close to the fence. He tends to be lazy but has amazing transitions. He isn't such a great jumper but we've got months to work on it :)
I have got no pictures of me with him.. but just got a new camera so they will be here soon. :) Here are pics of him with Kailey, who leased him last year..

This is my baby, Roger and I!! I was helping retrain him this year, for cantering and jumping. His walk trot is totally solid, but he hasn't been cantered by anyone but me in a while. Picture overload, sorry haha :)

I love to hear about everyone's horses :) Especially when they are so loved hehe

I have two amazing "men" in my life at the moment and I couldn't be any happier.

First is Fortora Farms Grey Arrow (Arrow). He is my 20 month old Registered Mini Colt. I always wanted a mini but my dad said they wouldn't stay in our fence (bad experiances with ponies getting out. They are like little houdini's lol), so I gave up asking him for one. Then one day my uncle called and asked if I wanted to buy his colt from him ( now I usually take in rescues and so that what I thought I was getting so wild crazy pony), that he couldn't be in the field with his girlfriends horses because they were to high strung and were scared of him and he thought they might hurt Arrow. He had been tied out like a goat because they were afraid what her horses might do to him so when I heard all this I said bring him to me. I had to pay $175 for him and when my uncle led him off the trailer it was love at first sight! He was so pretty and just as sweet as could be. We are now conjoined at the him-head LOL He learns so fast and is just the sweetest "horse" I have ever owned. I will train him to be a cart horse when he is older and a therapy horse. He's so special to me for other reasons as well. My mom has terminal cancer (in her brain) and if you were to talk to her now you would think she was mentally handicapped as she can't talk well some days and sometimes can't remember anything. But she was a very dedicated rider before she got cancer and loved horses. When they told her she couldn't ride anymore it broke her heart and it is so unsafe for her to even be around the horses anymore that she can't go near them. One day I had Arrow out and we have a 7 foot ramp on our front porch for her wheelchairs and things. Well I got the bright idea to lead him up the porch (because she had came out there to sit and wanted to come down to pet him and I didn't want her to fall), I took him right up to her and I have taught him to lay down so when we got up there to her I had him lay down and she was able to safetly (or more safetly anyways) pet him and give him "loves". It was the cutest thing and she was soooo happy I thought my heart would melt. So he will always hold a special place in my heart :) So this got so long I just really wanted to let you know how I feel for this little bundle of fur LOL *I started tearing up writting this if that tells you anything*

Will post about my other horse in a moment.

My next "man" I have only had for two weeks but it is going great. He was abused at some point in his life and at first didn't want anything to do with me but once he figured out he was getting treats or loved on he is now in your pocket kinda horse. hehe..

His name is Winter Wonderland and he is a 7 year old Morgan/Racking gelding. He is so gentle my 4 year old neice can lead, groom, really do anything with him. He has so much more patience then most 7 year olds I have been around and not spooky of anything. Who knew you could fall in love so fast hehe :)

No, it isn't wrong to be in love, but you do know it's a disease right? Something to do with the horsehair. There is a thread about it somewhere LOL :D.

I too am in love, but with way too many boys *and even a girl shhh*

Denny is my life and my joy even though I can hardly stand to ride him. He was my first real training project and he is everything I hate in horses; hot, chargy, arrogant, rough riding, and hyper-sensitive......but I couldn't love him more. He quite literally saved my life and my sanity while my parents were going through their divorce (my freshman year in high school no less. Like that's not stressful enough). I cried more than my share of tears into his mane and he would stand and listen for hours when I felt like talking, griping, or dreaming of running away. He would carry me faster than I had ever gone, wherever I wanted to go, and leave all my troubles behind. *wipes eyes, Geez you got me crying now* LOL. I screwed up a lot of things in his training but I wouldn't change one minute of it cause without him, I wouldn't know what I do now. My Dad tells me that he is too young to retire, and maybe he's right. But I think Denny has more than earned it.

Of course I love all my boys and my one girl but Denny will always be my first and my best.

Another boy that I am crazy about. =]

Rhedd
Red Roan
15.3 hands
20 years old (or 21, not sure)
Quarter Horse

I got Rhedd three years ago. I got him knowing he had ring bone and being told that if he got stiff "bute 'im up!" I will never forget the day I got him; the sockets above his eyes where sunken in from pain, his hair was shot up in the air, he wouldnt let me get anywhere near him, and he was so stiff it could make a person cry to watch him move. He didnt trust people and was unconfortable to ride. We got him on this stuff called Zeo Complete, and it got him galloping out in the field, bucking, it made him happy again. We began to get better and we went to our first show. We got two seconds and two thirds, and I had the time of my life (my first ever show, I rode western). I rode him until the end of summer '08. I got him doing english, which the cowboy said that he could never do (that cowboy also said that english sucked...). One of our last rides with a saddle (I did bareback mostly the whole summer) we cantered for our second time ever together. He was so happy and had so much fun. He is now retired out in my pasture. He is a bit lonely, and I think he misses me riding him, but I dont want him to be in pain. When he sees me he gets really excited and walks over to me as fast as he can and searchs me for treats or anything. He still thinks he is a stud though (as in he flirts with me a bit... xD).
He doesnt like anyone riding him, but me. He got my sister off, almost got Aubre off, almost got my cousin off, and got really ****y and wouldnt listen when my other friends would ride him. But the second I looked over, he would start behaving. He is perfect in my eyes, and the day we have to put him down is going to be the day that I am forget who I am.

GAW, now im crying.... Anyways, let me give you guys a bit of a picture overload. =]

Drummer boy's mane is about 30 inches!!! im so excited...im just going to keep letting it grow...:D

Drummer is my pride and joy and i wouldn't trade him for anything in the world. I have owned him since October 2008 and since he is young I haven't been able to ride him, ever. I have no problem with that and we are still as close as I have ever imagined possible and grow to be better partners everyday. He is the type of horse that, if he could, he would sit in your lap. On December 1 he will be started under saddle. I have found the perfect trainer for both him and me and will also be at the same place as my best friend.

NEW NEWS::: My trainer (bethany) has been working with Drummer and she said that "your horse is so quiet, you will be on him soon." IM SO EXCITED, NO ONE HAS ANY IDEA

I have absolutely no idea what i would do without him.

Alright well, there have been a few... well two, other very special horses in my life, but Zeus is the one that stuck, and in the end even though I loved those other two I'm glad it didn't work out. I've had Zeus for about 6 months now, and it feels like he just came home. Every time I think about it, that I have a horse as amazing and wonderful as he is I get excited all over again. When I have a crappy day, I swear he knows. I get out to the barn, and about 90% of the time, he spots me, neighs, and meets me at the gate. Sometimes at a walk, sometimes a trot and sometimes a flat out gallop. It makes me so happy to have a horse that is so easy to be around, and so absolutely lovely.

I already can't picture my life without him, and even though we're just leasing right now, he's not going anywhere. I'm going to keep him until the day he dies, no matter what. He'll always have a home with me.

From the other day... excuse my haggardness, ha ha.

Doing some groundwork.

First time I met him. <3

awesome horses and stories everyone! :D
Kainne and I are still getting to know each other, sort of. we both keep getting hurt over and over, ever since I bought him! but he's just an amazing guy. he's extremely patient and willing, he loves to please. when I got him, he had been pretty severely neglected, but it's clear that before that he was with someone who really knew what they were doing.
I'm just absolutely loving him. he's so big and cuddley! he's finally starting to be okay with me randomly latching onto his head/neck and kissing him. at first he was a little bit startled by it, hehe
he's just a really great guy. I'm excited to finally be starting to move forward with him and work towards all of the goals I set before all of these setbacks. just being out of the saddle for so long my confidence took a bit of a blow, but he's really helping me with that. :)

That picture of you and Bear is adorable!

I'm totally smitten with my Victor, as well. Every time I see him, it's like I'm seeing him for the first time all over again. Seriously. His big, puppy eyes and cute little mannerisms make me go, "awww!" all the time.

^^^ I love it when I'm sitting in the pasture and he comes over and starts grazing by me. He used to be crabby all the time and wanted nothing to do with me when I first got him, but now he's a total sweetheart. <333

Reading this thread makes my eyes water...it is amazing how much love we can have for our horses.
I love both my boys :Henry, my paint is our steady eddie and is perfect for our family , he was just what I was looking for when I was searching for a family horse for my daughter. He has given so much confidence and even has got my husband on board . He is the best trail horse and nothing much phases him : )
My Mustang has my heart though: Radar is like no other horse I have ever met, he hasnt always been treated the best in the past , he was tossed from home to home , through auctions etc.. but when I first met him I saw something shine. I have owned him for 3 years and he is always teaching me something new and most importantly he makes me humble : ) which at times I need.
I was told over and over by many ppl that he is too much horse for me , you need to sell him , you cant get anywhere with him etc... but I could never do it. I feel as if some part of me would be missing if I did.

Kinda reminds me of the quote "when I count my blessings I count my horse twice "

Awh, this is such a lovely thread. :)

There is one horse who is completely irraplacable and who i will NEVER forget. His name was Sinbad and he was my mother's horse. She bought him many many many years before i was born and did everything with him. I grew up with him and i honestly can say, he meant the world and more to me. I loved him more than i can ever express. He was the sweetest, kindest horse. He was so friendly, he would always come up the field to say hello, no matter who it was. I trusted him with all my heart and would lie at his feet in the field. He was utterly amazing and i honestly can't describe him. He was mad as a hatter. He was gelded late, at 6 years of age, and so always thought he was a stally which was rather amusing. In his hay day he was a total nightmare to ride, but the most honest and geniune horse.
When i felt upset or down or angry, Sinbad would always be there for me. No matter what kind of mood he was in, or i was in, he would always cheer me up. He had so many quirks and captured so many peoples hearts, and i loved him with every inch of me. Sinbad died on the 11th of June 2008 aged 33, and it broke my heart. I don't think i can ever get over him, and i never want to. Because he was such a phenomanal creature and no words or tears can do him justice. He was my best friend and my true love, and i will never ever forget him.

Smarby I know just what you mean. Whem I was fifteen I got Toby, he was a 12 yr old Knabtrup TB x and he became my true love. Like a lot of other horse lovers my Toby got me through some rough times, he was my best friend, confidant, companion He was a remarkable horse, gentle, fun, willing and loyal. He never refused me anything he gave totally unconditional love. He died at the age of 30, 5 years ago. I don't want to turn this into a pity party but I still to this day regret that I never really mourned for Toby. He died 8 months after my first daughter was stillborn. In the 8 months between the death of my daughter and Toby I lost two grandparents and my pregnant mare. By the time Toby died I had nothing left, I was so overwhelmed by my other loses that his death never even touched the sides. I do regret that because he deserved better.

On a much lighter note I have been absolutely blessed to have another horse of outstanding character. I never thought I could have another horse as special as Toby, bold, brave and loyal yet here I am with Phoenix who in some ways seems like Toby incarnate. On every ride I go on I honestly ask the question 'is it wrong to love my horse so much?' Phoenix is an important of part of my family and I adore her.

I have put this pic on another thread but this is my co worker Phoenix helping me in my workshop.
