any harsher than this bit? JP Korsteel French Link Full Cheek Bit - Dover Saddlery.

i was trying my greenie today in the first one and she was so quiet it was scary lol. she has been in a regular rubber d snaffle. (i also got the second one to try.

what do you think

I work all my greenies in a simple egg butt snaffle. french link. Its simple.The pressure is spread out evenly..nothing harsh. You could yank all day on one of these and your horse still have a mouth left when u were done (not that I suggest doing this...just sayin it isnt going to tear their mouths open)

To me, they're about the same. I ride my greenie in a bit similar to both. Its a double jointed bit like the second one. but in the middle there is a bean instead of the flat piece and it has a roller in the middle. He loves it and i've never seen a horse dislike it. The second bit, for some reason, none of my horses like. Never actually tried the first bit but my friend had one for her greenie and she really liked it. Both bits eliminate the "nutcracker action" that a normal snaffle creates, so I'd say just depends on what your horse prefers.

I think the first bit is a little softer for the horse because the middle link is round instead of flat. The flat causes more pressure points, which I think is why a lot of horses that I know go better in oval links than the true french link. The roller is nice because a lot of young horses like to play with it. What I ride my horse in is an egg butt french link with the oval link which is made of copper. It is slightly curved, and all my horses love this bit.
