Jeans that actually are high waisted

506 Views 22 Replies 17 Participants Last post by  Luke&Leia
Howdy! I’m looking for jeans that are ACTUALLY high waisted. Like a good amount above the navel. And they gotta have belt loops and be able to go over my Western boots (bootcut).

Recommendations? Rn I love the Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans but they are still too low. :/

annnndddd go!

Rockies were my absolute favorite. Don't know if they still make them.

funny how such a jean used to be called 'Mom jeans'. I love a proper waste on pants, but I ride in breeches.

@Luke&Leia: I was going to say GV. Take a look at Lee's. Also, Levi's have high waisted styles.

The highest waisted jeans I've found were Old Navy. When I'm sitting, I can hike those puppies up to my bra line. Surprisingly too, they've held together incredibly well - plus I got them for $5 odd the clearance rack.

My wranglers aren’t high waisted.. or at least the ones I got which were the ultimate riding jean.
I got a pair of WAX jeans, they are really high waisted.. I got them in flare though, I know they have a high waisted bootcut jean on Amazon, my flares were SO high waisted it’s ridiculous lol.
I don’t know how good they’d hold up though.
have you looked on buckle at all? Or boot barn?
My friend buys her jeans at buckle and I know the quality is really good, and I know a few of them are actuallyyy high waisted.

Wranglers!!! They are actually the best and can’t recommend them enough!
The ultimate riding jeans, retro mae, and those kind of styles say they’re high rise, but they’re not. More like a mid rise. I love them for doing town stuff or going to rodeos, but not to work/ride in.

For working and riding, cowboy cut slim are your friend!! I have 8 pairs of them and haven’t worn a different pair of jeans in over 3yrs. They’re amazing. Highly recommend sizing up in length for riding, they’re super comfy. Extra belt loops in the back so they actually stay up! Deep pockets. Well built. They’re a great price and last forever. Most of my jeans only last a few months but my Wranglers have lasted 2yrs and definitely show some wear, but still hold up great! Overall an amazing Jean and I love them.

Also, they have a sale for free shipping and stuff going on right now so that always helps lol

Zoom in on this pic, you can see that even though I’m sitting down riding, they’re still higher up on my waist. These are the cowboy cut

And these ones are the Retro Mae I believe. They’re super comfy but sit lower on the waist so I don’t love them for riding

@tinyliny 'Mom jeans' are in/trendy now with all the rest of the 90s styles.

@Luke&Leia I find Dr Denim and A Brand high rise are genuine super high rise. Not sure if they have a bootcut or straight style that would work over your boots.

Maybe try Buckle jeans? A little pricey but very good quality.

Today with bell-bottoms being in fad the fit over the boot should not be so problematic...
High waisted jeans in brands recognized are Levi's, Lee, and Old Navy that I know about.
Which specific style number I don't know but know they exist and are not ridiculously expensive.

For me, I prefer my jeans sit at my waist or a bit below but not falling off, let the crack show....never did like that style and certainly not today at my age is that appropriate nor advisable.:ROFLMAO:  :cautious:

Amazon might be a place to look since they have such a huge web of suppliers they ship from.
With amazing returns policy.....

I get Lees men active sport jeans (straight leg, elastic in waist with good height and loops, stretch denim) — perfect for riding in that the stretch denim doesn’t restrict your leg when lifting it up for putting your foot in the stirrup and they’re comfortable. I do need a belt all the time because, given my shape, the waist is loose and the jeans tend to succumb to gravity otherwise.

It can be so hard to find good jeans! lolol especially for a non-curvy person like me 😂
I believe I have the same jeans as AbbySmith in her second photo.
My jeans that I love are not super high waisted but I love them. I believe I have something very similar to these ones:
They are so comfy! and rather worn out after only a year or two...
There are so many bell bottom type jeans these days that could easily go over boots but might feel weird to ride in.

I found a pair of high waisted GAP bootcut jeans recently, and definitely love them. It was the first time I ever wore high waisted jeans, and it definitely took some getting used to!
I tried them on and at first I was like, what the heck are wrong with these?! 🤣🤣
