So I am going shopping for Bear. ;] My budget is pretty tight, so I am buying cheaper items. But he really needs to be on some Joint Supplements, I have been told. So...

I would be getting a 160 day amount (or closest to). So if you know of anything that is in the $35 or cheaper amount for 160 days that you think is better, feel free to share!

I kind of need replies sooner than later, as I am ordering this stuff either tonight or on Tuesday. If I order it tonight and no one replies with opinions then I will probably get the Glucosamine.

I would go with the MSM first, personally. It's usually found with the other "active ingredients" in combination joint supplements. It helps with inflammation and pain. Glucosamine protects the cartilage in the joints. But if you are on a budget, I think you will see more potential results for less money on the MSM. Now that's just my thoughts, so do with it what you want. I have ours on MSM and that's it for joint supplements.

I tried the MSM.. twice. Not helping. She actually got worse... twice. I went with Glucosamine.

fyi, MSM is just DMSO + oxygen

I use MSM, I recommend it. One of my geldings has arthritis in his hocks, and was very stiff when I bought him. I started him on MSM daily, and now he walks fine.

Some MSM you have to watch out for because the way its processed its left with impurities which can inturn harm your horse more than it does good. Do you research on any joint supplement or MSM product before you buy. I went to a vet conf. and there was a specific company who made msm, but can not remember the name, who told me the exact process to making their msm product.

Some brands say its "pure" to boost their sales, when its not at all pure. I'll have to check the HUGE stack of handouts I got from the conf.

That particular brand of MSM is very expensive, I believe its like $20 to $30 for a 1 lb tub....and thats just the vet price. Its pricey for non-vets
