Who else lets their horses out to just run around the yard and graze at will??
My horses are out my windows right now just hanging out, lol. I shut the gates and let them out from time to time to eat down the grass. Once I get my nice yard in I will have to give that more thought.

Lol I tried - but my mischievous little minis would rather rip the siding off our house and chew down our deck than graze! I've talked with the hubby about rigging up a portable corral to let them graze down spots of the yard without having a full run of it but it hasn't happened yet. Maybe next summer! :)

I am fortunate enough to have fencing around our property that I can jump a hot wire tape to if needed to keep them away from my truck and such. Last spring the ******s decided to try out my ornamental grasses that I had planted in pots at our entry for decoration. Gah! LOL. Once it was raining and they came under the entry to keep dry. Freaked me out cause our front door has a window in it and all I saw was this BIG butt!! But at first I was not sure what it was, lol.

I do, and one got in the habit of staring in the bathroom window early in the morning waiting for breakfast. Like most people you get up, go to bathroom then go feed horses. Oh did I mention my bathroom window doesnt have a curtain and is right next to the toilette ? scares the heck out of an over night guest. Course I just lay in bed and laugh the first time cause I know whats coming.

That's hilarious! Where I board at I can let my older horse out to graze. There is no gate at the end of the driveway but he will not go anywhere and is super easy to catch. I'll let him out as I'm doing chores and hanging about. I don't ever have to even halter him to take him out to the pasture in the mornings and back to the barn at night. He just follows. Several times I have brought him home to my house in the suburbs. I have a medium sized yard and I bring him into my back yard. My kids give him a bath, feed him treats and he grazes a bit and often just lays down to sun. Quite likes watching the kids in the pool and on the trampoline! He is very easy going, and completely laid back. I don't have a trailer right now so haven't done it in a year or so.

Well yesterday the culprits decided to taste my grasses again! Gah, thought they didn't like them the first time!! Well, guess my new girl had to try. I chased them off then giggled about it. Gotta love them horses.

Yes, we used to do this all the time when I had horses at my parents. We did have to sit out there with them and make sure they didn't get into trouble. Our mini followed the dog into the horse one day and my Arab was just a couple steps behind. One Thanksgiving, my first horse had colic that morning and the vet came out and treated him but told us to keep an eye on him so my dad stuck him in the front yard so we could see him from the table. He greeted all our guests with the dog- none of them knew what to think!

I let my 2 horses out to graze on the lawn. I usually let one roam around freely but the other one is behind a temp. electric fence that I will move around every other day to get the best grass. I enjoy them being out and I usually sit on the porch swing reading while they are grazing so I can keep an eye on them and be close by if anthing happened.

My yard is quite big & fenced & gated, so occasionally I will let the horses graze for a few hours. Also if I have petunias planted, I cover them, horses love petunias, eat them right down to nubs, even in the hanging baskets.

I have for about 5 yrs. now. I find it's great for desensitizing them LOL the grandkids would be out and the horses would line up around the trampoline with their heads moving up/down watching the kids! Saves me having to cut the grass too and I love to be able to walk out my door and they are right here. This year I fenced off an area where I actually want to grow grass LOL but they have the rest of the yard and down to our north pasture to graze. They also will line up and stare at the living room window when it gets close to supper time just to remind me not to forget LOL

I wish I could, but our property isn't fenced in and we share a driveway with our neighbors. I can see it now:

*Phone rings*

"Hello?"

"Hey, it's ___ from next door. Think you could come get your horses off my back deck? The big one just ate my potted flowers and now he's sticking his head through the living room window."

Yeah. Let's not even try that.
